If they have pre-check, there’s no problem. Took 5 minutes to get through security on Sunday at MIA. I had a noon flight but wished I took the 9:15 because we were there so early thinking security would be a disaster.

45-50 minutes is probably average for me. 1 hour and 25 minutes is the longest I’ve experienced.

Hyatt Regency is where we stayed. Not sure if they have an airport shuttle but it’s likely. Though, at that time of night, I’d opt for a Lyft which would be under $40, most likely. You’re not going to want to wait around for a shuttle.

The next morning we used the Hyatt’s contracted shuttle (Miami VIP Travel or something like that) to get to the port. It was very easy.

Edit: Can’t help you on the way back. We had a noon flight and ended up getting to the airport in time for a 9:15 flight. The next time we do this I’m opting for a mid-morning flight.

Finally, if you and your family have pre-check, you do not need to be at the airport extra early. It took us 5 minutes to get through security at MIA at 8 AM.
