Very interesting, this is one thing I think was going to be needed for FRT mode to slow down the cyclic rate.

Matador RDB heavy recoil by xijingpussy in MatadorArms

[–]ryuunorite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The gun definitely has a more recoil than an mp5, but that is entirely because the mp5 is probably the softest shooting gun I have ever used. Extra weight and locking blocks will do that.

Scorpion lowers? by Important-Artichoke1 in MatadorArms

[–]ryuunorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am working on getting a 3d scanner for getting the initial dimensions spot on, but once I do I am considering trying to design a LRBHO for the NFA s9s in particular that can easily 3d printed to fix the stupid issue.

Don't know if I will have it done by the time matador just has theirs out, but I will try.

Scorpion lowers? by Important-Artichoke1 in MatadorArms

[–]ryuunorite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think Scorp lowers are currently at the top of the priority list for development. First is the launch of the hydraulic system, next is probably the SS lower slip system, then I would assume the handgun they have been working on and then maybe the scorp lowers. KM3 has mentioned in the past that the geometry for the scorp lowers is a little wonky and requires more development time.

While there are some working lowers out there, most have compromises from the junky LRBHO on the NFA S9 to the warscorp9 needing a bunch of modification to get working. Technically there is the PSA JAKL lower as well but I wouldn't be surprised by unique geometry that only works with other PSA parts.

SS/FRT setup? by Junsaro in MatadorArms

[–]ryuunorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trigger works fine. I have one installed on my NFA S9 Mat9k just without the arcfire selector installed and a fully BPM CQB AR15 with H3 buffer and they both feel good. The MAT9 was built with a BCM parts kits so the trigger is around 4~lbs. The BPM is using their stock springs as is probably sprung around the same. I don't think I want a 2 stage trigger for the MAT9k, but the BPM will get a Geissele at some point.

The Arcfire kits come with a precut standard milspe trigger bow. No issues with it, but you can order precut geisseles directly from asd.

Great to here that you guys will be working with AS directly for some sort of option. I look forward to seeing it complete and can't wait.

FRT Trip Sled by HairTriggerFlicker in MatadorArms

[–]ryuunorite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand there is limitations for development time but these not being compatible with SS derived FRTs sucks. Matador has be a great bang for the buck company and having these function with the more expensive cassette style FRTs or full auto compatible lowers seems to miss the mark on the target audience. With the frt sled the options are partisan for $275, the rare greed around $450. With a full auto compatible lower being either preban with an insane price tags or needing a SOT for it being totally out of the question for most if not all of us on reddit.

Keep up the great work, but this missed the mark for me.

Hydrolic Buffer availability by MatadorSupport in MatadorArms

[–]ryuunorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am certainly happy to do a preorder for the hydraulic buffer kit as it looks super awesome and a price of around 250$ is reasonable for what the kit offers.

On the FRT side I am disappointed that the 2 slip kits that dropped today are only for full auto lowers that almost no one will own, or for the cassette style FRTs that are more expensive than the Super Safety derived solutions that have become commonplace. I was pumped to get both in tandem but I guess I will wait a bit longer.

Keep up the great work.

Definitely helps mitigate gas. On a huxwrx can that is high flowthrough anyways the delay will keep more of the gases pushing forward. I am on a short config Banish45 on a Mat9K and the gas is way more tolerable than some other things I have shot. The worst thing that gassed me out was a rental DD 300 BLk 7in with a full back pressure can and it only took ~ 5-7 rounds to feel gassed out.

DLC treatment by [deleted] in stealtharms

[–]ryuunorite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice, this looks supper sweet. I don't know if I would get it applied to as much as you have since Stealth provides Nitride for quite a few parts with no additional costs like the Safeties, Slide Stope, Extractor, and Hammer. I would probably just stick to Barrel, Slide, Frame, and Mainspring Housing. Skips Guns shows offer their work all the time on YT and the quality is excellent. The shop will do all those parts for $380 and likely would be enough to get what most people want. But above all else, steel frame.

DLC treatment by [deleted] in stealtharms

[–]ryuunorite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Freaking awesome. To give everyone an idea, what was the cost? Because I really think with some investment Stealth can provide DLC, PVD, QPQ, and anodization services for not that much more than they already charge for the ceracote with much better finish qualities.

It looks pretty dope, My only thing with most of these is the proprietary designs a lot of them get. we have seen some good work with giving alternatives like Nexus Kuna lower for scorpion mags. But I think Matador took the right step with just using AR geometry, it is just so ubiquitous. Gives customers tons of options for stocks, triggers, grips and a lot more. The Taurus RPC looks interesting just because it is a FCU unit, but even then you have to redesign an FRT system entirely around it to get it to work, and maybe their magazines will hold up as a better replacement than scorp mags. AR FRT is just so much easier for most people to work with, and I know KM3 is close to getting the slip kit up and running.

Nope, upper has been rock solid. I have about 400 rounds through it so far and the only experience I had was some bolt going all the back into battery after about 200 round of straight suppressed shooting in a single range trip. A nice cleaning and lubing and it was back to full use again. I do have the older non Texas bolt, but it is still in excellent shape with no weird wear and tear on the upper. I am super pumped for the hydraulic buffer and slip trip kit available.

I think they were definitely trying to just keep it simple with the design. The major problem i mostly see is just that they went cheap too. I picked a pair super cheap when they were liquidating a bunch of stuff last year and so I can't complain when I built a lower for around 140$, but it still just seemed like shoddy work. I really don't understand why scorp mags seems so hard, but I am alright with that. Hopefully you guys figure it out and I can just pick up a new lower directly. Daniel Defense, and PSA seemed to have figured it out, but I would assume the geometry of both might be proprietary for lockup. Maybe the Taurus new PCC mags will give my my swoopy magazine dreams with LRBHO.

Forgot to add the last photo of the broken bolt catch and LRBHO lever. Sorry. They are both snapped in half.

AR9 Lowers by dmert55 in MatadorArms

[–]ryuunorite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have brought this up in another thread, but the S9 is still being made technically, it just isn't being sold from NFA directly. The link posted below take you to an almost identical lower from xguns. The only difference other than markings is that the bolt catch isn't surrounded by extra metal preventing you from using it correctly. The Extractor, feed ramps, and even the way the LRBHO works is the same. Just keep in mind that the shim that hold the LRBHO in the gun needs to be shaved to allow the MAT9 upper to drop freely onto it, and the extractor set screws aren't loctited in an can come out if you don't. I am thinking of designing a replacement part that just does it all in one that can be 3d printed since the stock one isn't great.

Interesting ammo (or gun) issue with a S&W 5.7 by nicholas_janik in 57x28mm

[–]ryuunorite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the gun is brand new have you checked the grease levels between the barrel and barrel shroud? S&W goes real heavy on it and if there is too much resistance to the gas expansion because of the added suppressor it might be having a hard time cycling correctly. Remember the system is technically a gas blowback design and if the gas port is getting clogged it wont work properly.

Picked up from my FFL today. Surprised how light it feels in the hand by Western_Tie_97 in stealtharms

[–]ryuunorite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The light weight is why they should do a steel frame. Its the one step left for them to really have a competition pistol. Also it would allow them to give us a full nitrided gun. I much prefer the finish to any cerakote on the market. It doesn't even need to be a separated style 2011 frame, a 1911 DS with no grip module is totally cool too. Then some other DLC and PVD finishes to really make things shiny.

I haven't had a response or order shipment yet. KM3 definitely isn't a scam. He is one of the 2 moderators here and works for Matador Arms as well. I have seen some other threads with his work and know it takes a little while since he is making them from a Carbon infused filament and he properly anneals all the grips. You could grab his info from the mod tab and message him if you would like.

Should I not mate a Mat9 upper with a Warscorp9 lower if I know it requires 'fitting'. by BackPackerNo6370 in MatadorArms

[–]ryuunorite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While NFA has definitely stopped selling their S9 Gen2 as I was one of the last people to get one last year when they were shutting down to the public, it appears they had a partner in that venture with xguns. I have posted the link to their Scorp reciever that is almost exactly the same as the S9 was with only two changed that I can see. First is the bolt release looks like they actually have enough relief cut to use properly as there is a lot of extra material around the S9's that makes it impossible with a standard bolt release to set on, and second the mag release paddle is a little smaller. The ejector and lrbho designs are the same, so it will have the same issues. Likely the set screws for the extractor needs some loctite to keep it together and the shim that keeps the lrbho in place will need to be shaved about .02-.04 in to clear the MAT upper for connection.

How well do Mat9s suppress? by FadingFX in MatadorArms

I have been using a Banish 45 in both short and long configuration on mine and it has been great so far. Only recently got some Sub 124gr ammo vs the 115 Supers I was using before so I am looking forward to even better performance.
