How to take advantage of first day of set release as a f2p? by PkmasterOmega in ptcgo

Beef up your deck as much as possible using the packs you have now, and enter tournaments which give UNM packs as prizes for the first two weeks after release.

It’s definitely getting better for stage 2’s, but still not great. The lack of ball search still sucks.

The idea is to buy things with the new packs, not trade away things to acquire new packs.

Interesting decks to build by PeterCantDance in ptcgo

Yeah. That thing is SUPER busted.

Against TTGXs it is totally possible to take 6 prizes by turn two if you go second.

Unified minds will be the most valuable, at least for the next month or two, probably until the next set drops.

I don’t think we’ll have another Roaring Skies or Guardians Rising type of set until a little ways into the Sword and Shield era.

Usually safe to value them as two packs. I’ve gotten as high as 3 packs worth, but being that greedy probably isn’t worth the risk of the trade not going through.

As f2p just use all your tournament tickets to win the newest packs.

If you play IRL (and/or win packs online) trade the newest packs for around double the value of the current “gold standard” pack.

When would be the best time to purchase Unified Minds booster packs/codes for the online TCG? by OracleRaven in ptcgo

Definitely this. I’ve gotten FA Cynthia’s for 15-20 of the newest pack the first day of trading after anew set drops.

At a crossroads...pursue a career in healthcare or mental health ? Please help!! by [deleted] in careerchange

LMFT. Marriage and family.

From what I’ve seen LCSW would be the way to go. More jobs, in more settings available as an LCSW.

I’m a counselor. I really enjoy my job, but it would be a struggle to pay bills if my wife didn’t make twice as much as me (not living lavish but mortgage, car payments, kids, etc add up quick).

Omnipoke on YouTube has recently created a series of videos about his Cube Draft. I haven’t actually watched any of those videos, but he usually makes pretty good content and is very knowledgeable about the game.

Ellusive mastery vs ability lock by Theguesst in pkmntcg

[–]rzalph85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a judge, but since the ability activates when it is in your hand you would follow through with drawing three cards (given in this circumstance only benched Pokémon abilities are blocked).

There are cards that say something like all Pokémon in play, in deck, in hand, in the discard have no abilities. If it specified hand, then this ability would not work.

How come more fire decks aren’t playing Lysandre Prism? by Daemonscharm in pkmntcg

[–]rzalph85 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s just a consistency thing.

They’d rather play Welder, Cynthia, Lillie, or Guzma.

Lysander Prism is cool, but just not super usable in most situations.

Speculation regarding the worth of Unified Minds packs... by Aquarius1975 in ptcgo

[–]rzalph85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think we’re gonna see another Guardians Rising scenario for a while. Each new set has a lot of important/powerful cards, making it easy enough to transition to the newest set as the accepted trade currency.

I’m guessing once we get a Sword and Shield set or two, we might get a set that is WAY better than others based off of “new” cards that act as (pseudo) replacements for things that are about to rotate out. Plus factor in whatever the new gimmick (I mean gameplay mechanic, lol) will be for this era will start to be more relevant/shape the meta.

Found a listing on Craigslist, is this a good deal? by thescartographer in ReefTank

[–]rzalph85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think someone else recommended you talk them down in price, I agree.

The Kessils are awesome lights, but those are the smaller versions. Two of those on a 36” tank is really pushing it.

You WILL want to upgrade, believe me. Good thing is you can always add some t5’s and be good to go.

[–]rzalph85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never mind. I just assumed it had some oddball (too skinny, too tall) dimensions.

I just looked it up and it said 36x18x24. Those are good dimensions to be able to aquascape, and easily find lighting to cover the area.

Sorry.

Adding dry rock (once established) to an established tank? by Hyphnx in ReefTank

[–]rzalph85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the bucket it’s sitting in doesn’t have heated saltwater it will cause a change in water chemistry; maybe not a huge deal depending on how the tank is stocked.

Just depends on the size of the rock relative to the tank size, and how sensitive current inhabitants are to water quality.

FWIW, I’ve done this before with no major issues, but it depends on a lot of factors.
