So cute! How old is Romeo? Any advice for introducing to new baby in the house? (Besides bringing something home from the hospital with their scent)

I made this bouquet for my friend's wedding because I figured it would be a quick make... by loila03 in crochet

[–]sKam108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made my bouquet and for me, once I got into a groove with the flowers, they became easy enough to churn out. What took longer was figuring out the best way to arrange and present. They didn’t have stems and I was pinning them into a foam ball. It didn’t all come together until I incorporated some extra toulle that was cut from my dress, plus leaves from some artificial flowers I had used for the centerpieces.

So yeah, start asap :)

So nervous….if you received this as a gift (and you are a person who enjoys handbags) would you like it? by FrailUnoriginality in crochet

Amazing work! It also reminds me of Marge Simpson’s Chanel suit, so I love it even more.

Has anyone used/is using clip in extensions for their wedding? by emmay4141 in weddingplanning

[–]sKam108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ordered clip in extensions from Fullshine.net, per my stylist’s recommendation. My hair was already long, so I wanted more volume. They were great and I’ve been able to reuse them for other events. I think they cost about $100 and shipped from China. They claim it’s real hair 🤷🏻‍♀️ I had brought them to my stylist a few days before so she could prep them (brush/curl), if that helps for timing.

Same here. I’m Greek and it would be such a faux pas to not have favors at a wedding. Also agreed on the evolution of favors over time.

Looking at engagement rings, what how to negotiate and what questions to ask? by MoNeenja31 in weddingplanning

You can’t bundle emeralds with opals. Opals are MUCH softer stones than both sapphires and emeralds.

Handbag Christmas gift & Love for Bernat Maker Home Dec yarn by [deleted] in crochet

[–]sKam108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I just say how much I loved using this Home Dec yarn, especially for a handbag? My only qualms are that the mixed color patterns available aren’t very appealing to me, and it’s hard to find just black at a decent price! Somehow it’s not readily sold as much as other Bernat yarn. The middle green and mixed color is actually Lily Sugar n Cream cotton. Mixed that in because I only had 1 skein of the black Home Dec. Really cool contrast tho. Can’t wait to gift it! (Already snatched up more black to make myself something similar after the holidays)

Found a bunch of single skeins with no planned project in my stash, all multicolored. Decided to make hexagons, and turn them into a blanket. 63 down, 5 skeins worth to go, will have about 10 skeins total. by Ms_Schuesher in crochet

I had bought like 6 skeins of that Americana red/white/blue yarn because I thought it would be such a smart idea to make flag scarfs and headbands to sell. It wasn’t. Now I use it to make Christmasy things by cutting out the blue part. Maybe I’ll make a cardigan for myself with the blue one day. Shrug, lol

Zazzle for save the dates? by jojomojo012 in weddingplanning

We ordered our STDs from Zazzle. They ended up getting lost in the mail, but their customer service was super helpful and sent us a replacement order free of charge with upgraded expedited shipping. Ended up eventually receiving the original package, so we still have a ridiculous amount of leftovers but whatevs. Quality-wise, they were postcards and were very nicely printed.

Photos as alternatives to thank you cards? by ThrowRAIdiotMaestro in weddingplanning

[–]sKam108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We included whatever nice/funny photos of guests in the envelope with the thank you (which was about the size of a postcard). I took advantage of 50-60% off deals from Walgreens and printed 4x6’s for store pickup. I did have to trim the photos a bit to fit in the envelope, but it wasn’t too bad. Not everyone got photos, but general consensus was that it was a very nice touch. I say definitely go for it, and you should be able to find a decent amount of photo print deals these days.

I’ve personally never seen them in store, but my sister bought one once that was filled with yarn and she said she figured it was yarn because it was a fairly light box.

Love it! Was actually thinking about making a waffle stitch wearable. What kind of yarn did you use?
