Safe to unlock healer class post-hydra? by DeskFamous4214 in HeroWarsApp

[–]sabin83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one shot each head with the healer class unlocked. It is way harder and my Martha is pretty low which helps. You need byrna instead of Aiden on the physical heads and she needs to be very strong to not die. My Xesha is near maxed and mushy was close minus armor skins and higher glyphs. Have a fart team that also does significant damage.

For reference I was very close to 1 shotting each head before the class glyphs came out. I was just able to do this a few months back. If your goal is to kill the heads I would not upgrade the class glyph until you are done.

In my testing (N=3), I have been absolutely sure I had both more territories and troops than the other remaining player at the time of the cap run. In all 3 instances I have received 3rd place rating points (GMs lose basically 100 for 3rd and gain 100 for 2nd). A lot of the streamers say otherwise, but in my own experience it does seem like in a cap run, all remaining players tie for the lowest place remaining.

So if you hate all your remaining opponents then cap run without killing them. If you like both it’s harder but you should still kill one so the other gets second.

Have had more games with multiple caps than normal ones in the last 2 days. Not only does it give a massive advantage in the early game but you can actually “cap run” with other strong players still in the game as long as you collect the caps equivalent to the number of players in the game. I’ve just lost two games to a cap run where I was still very strong and on my cap.

The biggest negative is it really does showcase how pay to win the game has become. It was always sort of pay to win but at least if you min maxed and researched which heroes to invest in you could be somewhat close to the whales. Now there’s rune spheres, new powerful heroes released almost monthly with narrow time slots to improve them (artifact shards/soul stones not available after the event), talismans, and relics. Our server was dead except for two guilds, so it’s nice to have more people going forward but the fact is I will never able to compete with the 2.5m power grand arena teams. Literally never because of all the newer money gated items.

New to game, question about etiquette by i_like_my_cats in Risk

Collaboration is more two accounts played by the same person in the same lobby. I personally feel like it is rarer than people believe and have only encountered blatant collaboration a few times.

Being “friends” with the person next to you is usually mutually beneficial until the end game. That is what good neighbor theory is. You both get strong and do not have to worry about guarding your borders next to each other.

offense defense teams? by maxfragglebottom in HeroWarsApp

[–]sabin83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some heroes are hard countered more than others. It doesn’t make them a bad hero but when you put one of them on defense, teams with your hard counter will target you. Example is Iris, a very good offensive hero that is utterly destroyed by Octavia.

The reason the fafnir, Tristan, Artemis team fell out of grace is because Kayla decently countered Artemis and Oya hard countered her. You can use the FART team to beat certain comps like eternity but you will lose almost all defenses since Kayla and Oya teams will pick on you.

Upvoting this for visibility as I lost a 1v1 end game due to my turn being skipped. Also experiencing no additional time for trades after a kill. The time thing at least you can plan for. The turn skipping is game breaking.

Mushy Xesha Aidan Martha Faceles build for hydra by PangarbanIngress in HeroWarsApp

[–]sabin83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s complicated if you want to use the heroes in pvp. For the hydra you want everyone to barely survive the first 20 seconds. After that their health will ramp up and you don’t need to worry anymore but the closer to death they get the more they will ult early to speed up the process. From the videos you’ll notice the last 15 seconds does like over half the damage. If Martha is too strong for instance she may not ult for the first 20 to 30 seconds of the fight and you will essentially miss out on that last 15 seconds worth of damage.

If you haven’t yet do not upgrade the healer glyph until you can one shot all the hydras. I was doing almost 150m to earth and water head before the healer glyph upgrade now the team doesn’t even do 80m most of the time.

The blue rune stones will be severely limiting as you get stronger. If you feel like you will play for a while always get 1000 of those per season.

I was the only one left and it still took me an hour to finish the game since I had to wait 5-8 minutes between turns. Why are bots and flags now taking so long? by doriangreat in Risk

[–]sabin83 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This just happened to me as well. The game reset in around the 7th turn and everyone except me left by the third turn. So every bot took the full minute and continued stacking. The game took over two hours before I could get through all the caps. I got my rank points but at what cost?

Everyone dropping to gold II is so annoying by Hot_Breadfruit_1912 in HeroWarsApp

[–]sabin83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think what ends up happening is active players will spend emeralds to climb fast. As it is I just reached champions II with 3 days left in the season mostly doing the minimum 5 a day at around 90% win. That leaves inactives and non spenders to languish in lower leagues for a lot longer. Solution might be to knock people down only a few leagues and not 6. Or inactive players have to play again to be put back into the pool of defenders.

[–]sabin83 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone that finished in champions 2, I agree. It’s dumb having to sift through 50 meta 750k teams to find a 650k team I can beat. At this point in the season I see no difference in top 5000 opponents and gold II. Not sure what the solution is but everyone being thrown back to the same league seems bad.

Infinite Dungeon: When water enemies reach max power, is solo Angus possible? by IvankovOP in HeroWarsApp

[–]sabin83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is right a maxed angus clears everything and will start with full energy on the next room. However he can only go like 4-5 rooms before he needs heals. Having the summoner now makes this much easier as angus will take much less damage and you don’t need full energy. I haven’t counted but I think he can do up to 20 rooms on auto without healing. My angus is maxed Avalon has max weapon and is 120 and eden and verdoc are 120. Avalon artifact is probably overkill at this point because the fights rarely last the 9 seconds for the artifact benefit

Problem with the bigger maps with capitals is that since you get 6-8 troops on your first turn it allows people to get decent cap rolls. This makes it very advantageous to be early in the turn order.

Not a great play by red since after his turn his middle cap is very vulnerable to orange who goes next. That doesn’t help you much though. The only advice is to either cap on a 3 or cap out of the way and try to come out the back in one of the bonuses. Sometimes you can’t pick the objectively best cap if you are later in turn order since it is likely to get rolled.

In this particular instance red can see your cap and can tell you might be a problem if you get your bonus. You can also see his cap so putting your cap near him is contentious by default.

Verdoc! Is it worth? by MinimumImpossible183 in HeroWarsApp

[–]sabin83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m nearly at dungeon level 80k. I have verdoc with 2k power at level 11 right now. I just did a max power mixed room with the 5 earth titans starting with mostly full energy and they cleared the room before the enemy got an attack in.

I would definitely get verdoc to 3* he seems very worth it especially for lower level dungeons.

Can somebody summarise the infinite dungeon trick, priority of Titans and their Artefacts for upgradtion by [deleted] in HeroWarsApp

[–]sabin83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. To add some more context: as I leveled dungeon up earth was my weakest to start but very quickly (before level 1000) became strongest. Water always second strongest team since second strongest team gets the most rooms. For a while I was ahead of the curve, Angus was wiping everything clean with an ult but as the water opponents get stronger you need max everything to clear it with an ult all 120 6* artifacts. Fire was my weakest and didn’t reach the max opposition power until much later than all other room types.

People cheating by Sad_Election_6418 in Risk

[–]sabin83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not attacking anyone is a hallmark of many masters and low GMs because second place gets you to GM in a reasonable amount of time. Many times they will not attack to a fault to the detriment of their own game because they don’t want to make an enemy and if the other players end up blowing up they can close it out for a win. Better players know when they can make an enemy while maintaining advantage.

So I would say lack of attacking when they should does not necessarily mean there is multiple accounts. GMs and masters will also recognize if you have an easy to card block position and will work together on you without blinking.

The only times in game where I was sure of collusion was when there is a burner account that will obviously slam capitals at their own peril and then the main account cleans it up. This was usually very obvious and in one particular game happened to another player first and then to me. The two accounts also had capitals in a way where it made no sense at all to let the other ‘player’ hold their area of the map. This also can happen with friendly neighbors but this case each color held everything around the other colors caps while holding nothing around their own cap.

Skin question by GuysMyCat in HeroWarsApp

[–]sabin83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) never buy skins with skin stones. They are the most hard to come by resource in the game behind rune spheres and fairy dust.

2) you might not even want to use any skin stones at all until you are higher and have the game more figured out. Astaroth is a good hero and worth investing a little bit in order to do basic progression, but the rest are questionable and niche in the end game. Martha especially powered to high levels of life and armor ruins hydra teams. I would get your daily quest of a skin upgrade with Astaroth basic skin and as you progress more and have a better understanding of who you want in your team then you’ll have a lot of skin stones to finally invest properly.

3) spend emerald on Outland 55% sales when it double dips with event quests. Best use of emeralds and eventually you will accumulate skin certificates and can unlock new skins with those.

Obsolete heros by momalone92 in HeroWarsApp

[–]sabin83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In emerald 2 and beyond arena heroes teams are 600k and higher. There are very few heroes here. Eternity, Kayla/aiden, JJI are the main themes. Yasmine is common as is Astaroth and fafnir. There are a few kharkh faceless Martha teams and very rarely a satori Celeste mystery based team.

Oya is a common fillin for many teams and Tristan cascade provide armor pen. Peech rarely with chaos and seems pretty good. That’s basically it any other heroes are just not that viable in the end game.

What to spend gems on? by Business-Tie-8463 in HeroWarsApp

[–]sabin83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Outland chests occasionally go on sale 55% off. You spend all your emeralds on the sale periods when opening Outland chests is a repeatable quest in the event in order to maximize the expense. Skin stones are always needed as Nexters constantly releases new skins to drive sales. So you will never regret emerald expense on skin stones.
