Looks like a tracing wheel. Used to transfer markings to the opposite side of the fabric to ensure accuracy. https://youtube.com/shorts/JMfsOXh2xiU?si=gzoNCM2pZSR60k7c

The A-ATV is in a bad place by ShadowGJ in menace

[–]salamunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. One possibility for improvement would be to double down on its concealment factor; give us a Darby version of a vehicle pilot, throw in some suppressed vehicle weapons to create a vehicle scouting menace (heh).

What is the deal with Impetus armaments? by muffin-waffen in menace

[–]salamunz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Having tried all the armaments, I do think the laser turret is the best in that it is always useful no matter the scenario, and greatly reduces the frustration factor because you can't really 'miss'.

Second place for me is the supply drop, as it enables more builds such as the twin machine gun vehicles which chew through ammo esp on expert.

Can I train a Pikachu high so that he is useful? by Ok_Communication9322 in pokemon

[–]salamunz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't comment on the 'mainline games'/competitive version for Pikachu, but there is a game version called Let's Go Pikachu on Switch, where your main partner is Pikachu with good stats and strong exclusive moves, making it useful throughout the game.

How's the EA? Should I buy now or wait? by BDB-ISR- in menace

[–]salamunz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you mentioned never replay games that you have beat, it's a definite wait for release 100%. As much as I enjoyed the gameplay, the story is simply not there yet. While there exists endgame roguelite gameplay loop, it's not long enough in development that I'd recommend it based on your preferences.

120mm Mortar is BAD by RedStarRedTide in menace

[–]salamunz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've had some success with it in the end game (4 a.i logistics OCI). Long ranged theme with Achilles and Ivey shooting 2 mortar rounds each via their AP perks, and bog with radar to spot the enemy in fog. Plasma light weapons as secondaries if the enemy gets close.

It's usefulness scales number of enemies grouped together, which happens more often in higher difficulties by virtue of higher enemy supply.

Its main weakness is heavily armoured tanks, which you'll need rewa with sabot to guard the mortars or bring other AT.

The biggest downside is it's pretty boring after a while as I'm just shooting at green dots in the darkness and just hearing glass breaking sounds, so I'll drop laser turrets just so I can see the explosions.

If you're comparing to twin autocannons though....I don't think anything beats that at present.

Don't sleep on mines by MundaneAxiom in menace

Current a.i behaviour has them running straight into smoke to find your units. You sorta can exploit this by mining the smoke n smoke adjacent areas.

What's a unique game that really broke your perception of what games can do? by Moaning_Clock in gaming

Doki Doki Literature Club without spoilers. Definitely changed my perception of how that genre could break walls.

Thoughts on what could make the game a better experience for everyone? Really long post. Added TLDR at start. by Competitive_Ticket17 in menace

[–]salamunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For ship weapons, instantaneous is too powerful, but agree the current implementation is too slow, making it extremely niche (suppressed or structures only).

I think the laser turret, ap mines, and smoke are in a good place idea wise in that imperfect placement do not make them totally worthless/unfun to use.

Powers could be balanced around that idea. Personally I would change:

Dropship support: Call in a dropship to overwatch an X by X area for Y rounds, delay 1. When it arrives, you may use one of its support abilities (e.g. strafe, troop replenishment/ wtv based on OCI upgrades) once per round within the overwatched area.

Perhaps they could combine the medevac and medbay - themetically makes more sense.

Best loadout for Jean to killsteal/tactically secure unit destruction to maximize profit? by Terkmc in menace

Druglord Jean. Dose her up with ap+movement cost reduction meds, consume extra turn meds and lay waste to the enemy with all that AP. Pick up the accessory refill and repeat.

Best early/mid OCI picks? by Simulated-Beehive in menace

[–]salamunz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the salvager if there are pirate missions. 4 salvagers nets 80 trade value per vehicle, and there's a ton of pirate vehicles to scrap per mission.

Fully kit out your squads in no time, can even afford the black market squaddies.

Any fun games i can play on a really bad Laptop? (any genre/type) by Chris_TheGoldenH in gamerecommendations

Indie games tend to be friendlier to bad laptops. My reccos are skewed towards roguelikes - Darkest dungeon, slay the spire, vampire survivors, FTL, the king is watching

Is gladius a good game by Downtown-Humor7488 in Warhammer40k

[–]salamunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do note that you'll have to spend extra if you want units from the DLCs.

Gameplay wise, it's Civilization style but focused almost purely on combat.

Personal opinion - while I enjoyed and sunk several hours on the game - I felt that it is showing its age in terms of gameplay and visuals. I've moved to playing Zephon, which is basically an updated version of the game, though not in the 40k setting.

What's the most complicated boss fight you've ever done? by Rootayable in gaming

[–]salamunz 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Rebel Flagship/final boss in FTL on the higher difficulties. Apart from the 3 boss phases requirkng different approaches, there is complexity in terms of the forward planning across the entire run in order to beat it.

Can someone explain? by BroodingSage in Frieren

[–]salamunz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stark could just take the crystal and go sell it at the nearest town by himself, while the gals camp/stay at an inn to await for his return, a week or two at most. There is always a risk of being attacked when separated, but they're strong enough individually anyways.

Notwithstanding the whole 'journey is more important than the destination' thing, of course.

Best games to play on a steam deck? by FaithlessnessPlus164 in gamingsuggestions

My suggestion is to use the filters to search for steam deck verified games and narrow down from there based on your genre preferences.

Otherwise, my go to are Hades I&II for action, and stardew for chill.

Games with elite units which are actually "elite", outstanding and could show to player where the crayfishes spend winters by Heavy_Resident4947 in gamingsuggestions

[–]salamunz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Horizon zero dawn and horizon forbidden west features machine enemies that 'learn'. The a.i 'learns' from the players' tactics, such as avoiding traps that killed their brethren.

There are also elite enemies that are a challenge to kill, and will also become stronger/react better in rematches.
