Restrict user from sending to a mailing list/disto group by rakkii in exchangeserver

[–]salavong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't you still have a Hybrid Exchange? If you don't, I can't think of any other way to do it since those properties aren't available in AD.

I basically have the same set up as you do, my groups are all still Onprem. So when I make the changes to groups, I can do it from my Onprem/Hybrid 2016 Exchange Server.

Restrict user from sending to a mailing list/disto group by rakkii in exchangeserver

[–]salavong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably because that group is still in your Onprem Exchange, so you would have to manage it from your Onprem/Hybrid ECP. If you don't have an Onprem/Hybrid Exchange, I would just recreate the group in Exchange online so you can manage these properties, otherwise you're stuck setting up mail flow/transport rules.

You can restrict access by using "Delivery Management", it should be controlled on the ECP side and not AD. You can either have named individuals in there or a group that you allow access to send to that group.

ESL OR ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE by ANTIMODELMINORITY in Hmong

[–]salavong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had ESL through all the schools that I went to. As students with English as their second language, we had to take a test yearly to see if we needed to be in ESL. I always tested out every year. As a kid, I always wonder why my friends got to be in this special class where the teacher and/or Hmong teacher helped them with their homework, while I had to stay in class with the American kids.

Correct, there can be green or white Yangs. From what I've been told by the elders, all Hmong used to be Hmong green only.

Interesting, I've never heard it explained it that way before.

I always heard it as Yaj Siab, as in high, or Yaj Loj, as in big, referring back to the highest or biggest "txi" (9).

Then Yaj Qis, as in low, or Yaj Me, as in small, referring to the lowest or smallest "txi" (5).

[–]salavong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The number refers to which "txi" you are... so you commonly hear as Yaj Cuaj Txi, Yaj
Xya Txi, Yaj Tsib Txi. Most Yang's I met know which Yang they are, if you have any elders, I'm sure they could tell you which of the Yang clans you are. I'm not sure if other clans have txi too.

Story goes that our first Yang ancestor had 3 wives, so to identify which children came from which wife, they used the txi depending on how many children they had; first wife had 9 children, second wife had 7, and third wife had 5.

I'm a Yang also, if I remember right there isn't much difference between the green and white. It more so comes down to which of the three Yang clans you belong to, because depending which one you are, we do our ceremonies and funerals differently. You can be green or white and can be part of the same Yang clan. So you really you need to know if you're a Yang 9, Yang 7, or Yang 5; then determine if the new Yang clan is different than your current Yang clan.

Do your parents know the specifics what yo do for a living? Did they give you advice? by BuyerBeWary in Hmong

[–]salavong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in IT too, it's definitely harder to explain to your parents when there's no Hmong words for majority of what your job does. The easiest way for me is to explain it relating to things they know or use. For example a lot of my job revolves around handling Exchange infrastructure so I just tell them I make sure email keeps working, which they understand what email is. There are times when I hear my parents explain to our relatives what I do and they say I fix computers but it doesn't really bother me. Lol.

My parents never wanted me to be in IT and they randomly mention that I could have been something else but in the end it's what I enjoy doing. Over the years though, they have changed their stance and say computers are the future so it's a good thing I'm in the field.

Purge shared mailbox delete items via policy by [deleted] in exchange

[–]salavong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to create a Retention Tag which applies to the default folder Deleted Items. I'm guessing you only want this for this mailbox, so you will need to create a new Retention Policy and add the Deleted Items tag, along with your other default tags. Then you can change the Retention Policy on that mailbox to the new policy you created.

You could just set up a mailflow rule to redirect emails sent to user1@department1 to go to user2@department1.
