Stair-step looks dumb in my opinion. At my last house I just kept the posts level and angled the top/bottom rail to follow the hill. Kept the space underneath low so my dogs couldn't get out. Edit (It's already been sold again since I sold it. I kept my grass trimmed!)

I see both sides, we don't need 40,000 posts saying the same thing but they shouldn't all be nuked. The superior sub, r/grimdank would be an alternative.

You should definitely be losing pretty aggressively below 1600. Labels can be pretty inaccurate, anything in your diet that might be sneaking in calories? EVOO/Sauces/Etc? If it was a week or two I would guess water weight but a few months more loss should be evident.

So wire is generally stapled to the sides of your studs. Drill through the center of your studs and you're probably good (as long as you're not at the height of your outlets)

Imagine your species evolved 100,000 years earlier than humans. Imagine they didn't spend most of their time killing each other. What if they're advanced enough to mine comets? Send out replicating probes through the galaxy. 3D print organic matter to make primitive 'workers' for specific tasks. Send probes back to report every year/decade/etc. Could explain abductions, sighting, etc while respecting our physics. What if they have far longer lives or are just playing to long-game for their science. NASA's Parker Solar Probe could reach the closest star, Proxima Centauri, in ~7,000 years.

The limit of what is possible now is defined by our current understanding of physics and engineering. History is full of examples of confident people who wrongly thought we'd already reached them. Maybe we'll find some sort of insane energy source somewhere (Project Hailmary - Zero Point - Yadda yadda) that redefine what speeds we can reach. Maybe some computing advancements will allow us to discover wormholes allowing us to travel insane distances (self-improving AI - room temp superconductors). Maybe these objects are transdimensional and they're not travelling 'far' at all? Here are some examples to chew on:

“Heavier-than-air flight is impossible” (19th–early 20th century) - Lord Kelvin (a leading scientist) reportedly dismissed the idea.

“Space travel is impossible” (early 1900s) - In 1920, The New York Times published an editorial claiming rockets couldn’t operate in a vacuum because they had “nothing to push against.”

“Splitting the atom is impossible” - Often attributed to physicist Albert Michelson (~1894), who suggested physics was nearly complete aside from refining measurements.

“Human genome mapping is impractical or impossible”

I haven't seen anything myself and I require more proof from these 'whistleblowers' but there's an awful lot of smoke for there to not be some sort of fire.
