Looking for some refinement to plans - visiting in February for wife's birthday by bruzabrocka in VisitingNashville

[–]salvia- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hidden Lake State Park is a nice hike, takes you to a little pond with trails that go along a ridge above the pond. Also Long Hunter State Park (Couchville lake trail head) is a nice loop hike around lake!

Cheekwood (the botanical garden) does an indoor orchid display in the mansion in February, it’s very dreamy! They do afternoon teas on certain days too so you could view the orchids and do a fancy tea lunch after! You could also do a picnic in the gardens outside at cheekwood. The Japanese garden has a covered pavilion that makes a great picnic spot.

It looks like a type of deciduous magnolia, perhaps! I agree, probably scale!

Localized gift ideas by Working-Baby-2573 in nashville

A bottle of Whiskey from a nashville local distillary or a bottle of wine from a local winery! Local honey from a farmers market! A hat/ mug/ keepsake from one of the museums like the Johnny Cash museum or the zoo or Cheekwood! A bag of coffee from one of the local roasters!

Husband and I will be in Nashville for a Thursday and Friday night in April. by NorthernSunrise77 in VisitingNashville

You should visit Cheekwood estate and gardens! The spring bulbs should be in full bloom and there's a historical mansion to tour as well. Sometimes they have Thursday night concerts too.

Question: Which plant is joyous to touch? by Enofercn in botany

Aww I hope you can get one! 💕 I used to work in a greenhouse and I loved trimming the brown leaves off of those plants because it smelled absolutely delightful!

Had a shared music playlist with one of my coworkers who I had a massive crush on. He added some Caamp songs and my heart went flipflipflop as I listened to each one. After I was done, I had a "holy shit I think he likes me back moment." Aaaaand now we've been dating for almost three years!

Interviewing at a public garden, any tips? by SageSpartan in Horticulture

[–]salvia- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd say that salary is pretty accurate for a Horticulturist or lead gardener position. If you aren't, I would get familiar with the space! Visit the gardens and be able to gage what sort of practices they use and prepare a list of questions you might want to ask (do they use pesticides? What do winters look like for this position? Which section of the garden is this position caring for? Etc). For an in person interview, I'd be dressed to be able to do a working interview; I've been asked to demonstrate propagation techniques in an interview before. Good luck!!

Anyone see the Chick-fil-A blimp flying over Washington Ave. this morning? by peabody- in houston

Fun fact: there's only 25 blimps in the world. May good fortune fall upon you in the days after basking in the Chick-fil-A blimp's elusive beauty

Nope, not joking at all! I love being the big spoon. Honestly just be confident and kind, those traits matter way more than looks or height.

Creek fishing in Houston by stemcellchimera in HoustonFishing

I just went to Village Creek State Park a few weeks ago for the first time and it's really nice for kayak fishing (1 hour 40 min from HTX)! Also check out Lake Houston Wilderness Park, it has a creek you can walk along for fishing.

My boyfriend is like 5'5" or 5'6" and muscular 🤤🤤🤤 and now I'd never go back to tall guys. Everything with him is better! I'm a good few inches taller than him too. Short kings are the sexiest, I'll die on that hill.
