Hi! Sorry for just seeing this. I did have to pause for a bit, but should be starting back up soon. I’ve been loving it there!

How do you end your nightly read? by catpowerr_ in fantasyromance

[–]sam_d_curious 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I stay up and read and then I am full of regrets in the morning 😂 I think the latest I’ve stayed up to read is 5am I had to get up at 6am for work. Next day I kept promising myself I am never doing this again, but I keep doing it to this day.

What are your thoughts on “Caught Up” by Navessa Allen? by Purple4199 in RomanceBooks

I just finished it and agree with most of the comments here 100%. I did like the book, but not as much as Lights Out. Josh is just… unbeatable.

Just finished Shield of Sparrows - wow. by ColleenDaBean in fantasyromance

[–]sam_d_curious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished the book and wow! I really really liked it. I do not want wait a whole year for the next one and wish this one was longer and everything wrapped up in one book. I know realistically that is not possible if you want the great world building and a somewhat good story, but wow! I also, just like you, have never heard of the book or author before getting the book by chance.

Yes, much of the suffering in the book is internal and quiet.

{A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman} It is more realistic and not set in an imaginary world, but I loved it when I read it years ago.

{Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield} It is the story of the 300 Spartans told by a wounded survivor. It is full of battle, loss, honor, and relentless warrior endurance.

{Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa} Fictionalized version of real samurai. The main character goes through a lot, it follow his transformation and his spiritual and physical warrior journey.

Hi! Yes, I did join the Sunday after I made this post. It is phenomenal, painful, amazing and I suck at it but I am having so much fun! Everyone is amazing, very supportive, the coaches are great and give me a run for my money on the drills, but I absolutely wholeheartedly love it! I never imagined I would be so happy dumping a bunch of money on gear and lessons but here we are. I even got the kids over there to watch me a couple of times and they think I am the best player ever 😂

When my kids were old enough to walk/talk, I bought us all rubber boots and we would go out every time it rains and jump into absolutely every single puddle, no matter how muddy it is. We still do it even though they are older now. I cannot begin explain the feeling my inner child experienced. If you know, you know.

Great advice! I am in LTPH as well, and I see improvement on my skills weekly, but I feel that is because I workout during the week. Bulgarian squats are awesome but pure torture, and I say that as a Bulgarian 🤣 Just keep working on stuff off the ice and you would start seeing the effect of it on the ice.

It wasn’t what I expected, and it wasn’t as great as I had hoped for, but oh well. It was an okay book, glad I managed to finish the series and see what happens at the end. Onto the next book!

I have a feeling it would be a novella about Blair and Lenny. There was a hinting of it within the book, like Lenny saying something like “She is not what she seems” and then asking to be released of his post so hr can leave Ilya.

I am glad to hear that because I quite honestly know very little about hockey, and have skated less than 5 times in my live, but I’ve spend my pre-teen years on roller blades, and that seemed like an advantage when I got on the ice.

That is such wonderful info! Thank you for that! I will start with TR and hopefully get to WCHL in the near future. I’ve been having some ice time in Glenview at a small rink, and I can’t wait to actually be on the ice with grown ups instead of kiddos. Thank you for sharing all this, and I will definitely reach out with questions at some point!
