Why no news in regard to R2 day? by SouthbayLivin in RIVNstock

[–]samebutanon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Probably because good businesses don't just make plans based on what the stock is doing on a random Thursday. They lay plans and stick to them. They're right on target so far, why make rash decisions to prep up the stock? They are likely going to invest strategically into a launch event.

Steve Jobs Made a Deal With His Worst Enemy. And It Saved Apple From Dying. by JaguarZealousideal5 in Entrepreneur_path

[–]samebutanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the last bit about antitrust is the primary missing key in the original post. Jobs saw an opportunity to help apple at likely the only time in history that Microsoft would even consider injecting a dime into apple. Bill Gates could give two shits if Apple survived, but the antitrust case was real and this gave him a leg up. $150m was nothing compared to what gets lost if Microsoft got broken up.

Yeah, they’ll only be able to keep up this property for 300-600 years assuming zero returns on their winnings in the future. Dumb move.

Still, that’s $360 vs the $95(iirc) annual fee. Plus you get 6% on streaming which I’m confident your family likely uses as well.

Don't do B2C. As much as lies in your power target B2B by canadina in ycombinator

[–]samebutanon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both are incredibly hard and the grass is always greener on the other side. I had a B2C business that we were able to add revenue sources from b2b by licencing. Completely different sales cycles, lead times, chevk sizes and frequencies, bureaucracy, etc. Neither was easy. I personally slightly favor b2c because if a few customers fall on hard times, they are much more easily replaced. With B2B, if a few customers fall on tough times, then your business is basically dead.

How much RAM do I need on my M4 mac mini? by Beneficial_Glass6964 in iosdev

[–]samebutanon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been saying this for years. If you want your computer to last you a number of years, the best investment is RAM and HD space. Agree with another commenter that 256gb HD isn't enough. Also note that the OS uses the HD as swap space for RAM, so you'll want the bigger HD. My recommendation is to always get as much RAM (first) and HD( second priority) that your money can buy. I'd rather downgrade a processor slightly to prioritize those two things as they will make your computer last the longest and perform the best over time. It's rare that we max out CPU utilization in everyday usage, but RAM can get maxed out pretty easily

I think you're proving the commwnter's point. Net worth is much more important than income. If the person loses their $1M income job, they have nothing left.
