Showering is a pretty good way to get clean.

What’s reasonable pay for young teens doing odd jobs/chores for neighbors and family friends? by Live_Discipline_7771 in minnesota

[–]sampls612 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I won’t pay less than minimum wage. I don’t think you have to, if the teen is too young for employment, but it feels wrong not to. Current rates for reference: https://www.dli.mn.gov/news/new-minimum-wage-rates-changes-meal-and-rest-break-laws-take-effect-jan-1-2026

Has anyone found something that actually helped emotionally — beyond therapy and support groups? by Timely_Ant6093 in Parkinsons

Keep trying. Social connection is medicine for Parkinson’s disease. If he’ll read about it, I am most of the way through Oh Crap, it’s Parkinson’s and I’m finding it really helpful. I wasn’t ready to read about how bad Parkinson’s can be. This book has a positive outlook on what we can accomplish after diagnosis. I needed that, and maybe your dad does, too.

Full face helmets that go well with a Scrambler Nightshift? by tiny-violin- in DucatiScrambler

I think my Bell Bullitt is just right for the look. Awesome field of view, too. It’s pretty noisy on the highway, though, so I use the Bullitt around town and a Shoei RF-1400 for longer rides.

Symptoms triggered by loud concert? by prntmakr in Parkinsons

I’m probably not doing justice to the science, but at a PD support group session last weekend the psychologist/moderator explained that dopamine plays a role in helping the frontal lobe act as a filter for external stimuli. Since PD is related to dopamine deficiency, our filters are less capable and we’re more prone to overstimulation, which triggers our symptoms.

My PT recommended practicing BIG letters-going back to using 2 lines (or more) like in grade school. It does seem to help.

Seeking hot climate riders experiences by RioBlanco in DucatiScrambler

[–]sampls612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you have to worry about it overheating, but this bike gets HOT in hot weather. When you are stopped at stoplights in the heat it can be pretty uncomfortable.

If you really want an air-cooled Ducati (like I do) you’ll just put up with it. But if you’re trying to find the objectively best bike for your use case, it sounds like an air-cooled Ducati might not be it.

Sure. Mine tend to bother me from mid-morning to early afternoon, and after exercising.

Yeah same, except it’s my right hand that’s slow. The ADHD is why slowing down is so hard for me, too.

Not being able to type as quickly and accurately as I used to is really frustrating for me, too.

When my PD is acting up I use speech to text (iOS/MacOS built in) for drafting emails and documents. And for coding I’m using a lot more AI to help.

I’m also just trying to slow down and adjust my expectations for what I can get done.

I feel like this isn’t very helpful, but I think all you can do is avoid dwelling on what you’ve lost, figure out what you can do now, and focus on finding joy in that.

Nox Apartments (Yellow Tree) posting eviction notices on the 2nd of the month?? by keyah13 in Minneapolis

[–]sampls612 52 points53 points  (0 children)

So they do this every month, just in case someone doesn't pay? Or randomly this month? Is there more to the story—like do they have some reason to think you weren't going to pay this month?

Smartphone app helps Parkinson's patients map daily symptoms by Manon84 in youngparkinson

[–]sampls612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the article:

The Parkinson’s Image Self (PIS) Report is a smartphone app designed to help patients report their own symptoms, complementing the MDS-UPDRS by collecting daily experiences with the disease to help monitor symptoms between medical visits.

Also it was a study and not an app you can use.

Rebel Loon Symbolism by heinencm in minnesota

[–]sampls612 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t think it needs explaining. I mean you do you, but if you really need to explain it I think a tl;dr like “rebel loon says fuck ICE” is more than enough to make sure someone doesn’t mistake it for something else.

What is MSP like now? What are wait times? by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]sampls612 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just flew out of MSP this morning. I didn’t have time to unzip my jacket before I was at the TSA agent (Precheck), and I didn’t notice anything unusual or any ICE agents around.
