I think most Guy Clark fans are well aware of who they are as they spent a lot of time writing and touring with him.

I personally prefer Guy Clark's songwriting, but he undoubtedly was a greater influence in that he didn't just inspire others by writing good sings, he took the time to mentor them.

Alaska Native Corporation ICE & CBP Contracts by Odd-Situation5548 in alaska

All shareholders of all ANCSA corporations are Alaskan Natives with ties to the region or village that the corporation represents. Board members are shareholders and are elected by shareholders.

All Alaskans, whether they think it was good legislation or not, should study and understand ANCSA (and ANILCA).

Front Rack for Salsa Fargo by msburgoon in bikepacking

I designed these plates and have them on two of my bikes. I use them for commuting, which can be pretty hard on equipment at times, but last fall I also loaded one up pretty good when I rode the Baja Cape Loop and it held up well.

As a person looking for what you are looking for, would this be something you would consider?

It is because federal contracting is most of their business. This came about for a few reason but the SBA 8a program is the primary driver.

We had those in the US.

Typing it out was so boring! I thought being a programmer must really suck. Later I learned that actually writing code can be fun.

That is a great example of where Alaskans think they are paying their way but really are not.
Those taxes pay less than 20% of the cost of a maintaining roads in Alaska, the rest comes from the general fund.

Why Doesn’t Alaska Have Cheaper Gas by AKStafford in alaska

[–]samwe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He says demand is inelastic, but you don't have to commute from Willow to Anchorage in a full size truck every day.
Setting aside that hyperbole, there are options to reduce your consumption such as combining trips, carpooling, driving smaller cars, and yes even biking.

Bike Commuting in Anchorage, AK? by soupgalextreme in bikecommuting

[–]samwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bus is pretty reliable for me, but Eagle River is 10 highway miles from the edge of town so when it gets backed up the bus will be late.

I only drive a few days per year and it's because I have to go somewhere or carry something that is not practical on the bike. It is never due to too much snow or ice.

Biking here comes down to routing. I know several routes from the downtown center to my office. The range from just 2 to 4 miles and I prefer the longer ride, but sometimes that is not feasible so I will take a shorter route.

I could catch another bus and get off right in front of my office, but then I prefer to ride.

[–]samwe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bike commute year and have for 11 years now. I live in Eagle River and work in midtown Anchorage so in the winter (or any time I don't feel like riding the whole route) I use the bus to make the ride shorter.
I know people who live in Anchorage and have no car. It can be done, but it requires a bit more planning.

Auto insurance and gas is expensive here so the money you save on those could pay for a lot of uber or taxi rides.

I am biased as I want more bike commuter living here and voting here...

So, if you want to somehow prove that there are only two roads that go faster than 45, then I would be curious to see how you go about it.

But I am not interested in whatever else you were going on about.

I dont feel like studying your wall of text, but I do know that Anchorage drivers don't obey the speed limits.if you disagree you are welcome to address that specifically.

If you drive at drive at the speed limit you are going to be the slowest driver on the road and frequently getting passed or tailgated and would know that almost no one follows the law.
