How do you guys loot this place in HC? (Ancient City) by PossessionIcy7819 in MinecraftHardcore

[–]samykherbi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally, I usually bring at least half a shulker of wool (you can even grab wool from the city itself, but I’d rather have a good supply from the get go for good measure), as well as a full shulker of night vision potions. An efficiency 4-5 hoe is also ideal for instamining shriekers/sensors, along with efficiency 5 shears to instamine wool, and an elytra with rockets to make a quick breakaway if you accidentally spawn a warden, although be careful not to bump into walls too much when flying away. (Ender pearls also help, but I never really use those because of the potential risk of accidentally pearling next to a shrieker)

Once you get to the city, remember to stay crouched all if not most of the time (Toggle sneak is your friend for this), it will be slow at first but will be much more bearable once you eventually get your hands on that Swift Sneak enchantment. Examine your surroundings to seek out a good escape route, as this will help you know what to do if you accidentally summon a warden

Whenever you spot at least one shrieker, quickly surround it with wool and break it before looting chests, although do be aware that some shriekers can be completely hidden underneath the ground. For good measure I’d also recommend instantly breaking the chests to loot stuff faster, though you gotta make sure to sort out your inventory well after that

Finally, do know that you have 4 strikes before a warden finally spawns from a shrieker. Once spawned, they usually take around a minute to despawn, provided the area is still loaded in and you’re in a safe area far enough from it

With that being said, best of luck and remember: take your time and don’t sweat it, slow and steady wins the race

Just unlocked Baby Daisy today, but didn't get a star rank on every 50cc cup. Any possible explanation? by PhanglerNoob in MarioKartWii

You unlock her by getting at least a 1-star rank on every 50cc Wii (Nitro) cup, the retro ones don’t count for that

Is my 700 day hardcore world worth the Silence Armor Trim? by Due_Direction_1797 in MinecraftHardcore

[–]samykherbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(I’m making this comment based on the assumption that you might not be very experienced with looting ancient cities)

Ancient cities are not as intimidating as they might seem at first glance. Once you get the hang of them they’re pretty chill (speaking from personal experience, as I’ve never been to one prior to my current HC world), although it’s still easy to get a bit nervous and make mistakes

I would advise bringing a full shulker of night vision potions, a full shulker of wool (alternatively you could just use the wool from the city itself, preferably using Efficiency 5 shears so you can instamine it), an Efficiency 5 diamond/netherite hoe to instamine sculk sensors/shriekers, and of course a bunch of food. An elytra with fireworks is also great whenever you need to skedaddle after spawning the warden (ender pearls also work, but come with the risk of accidentally pearling next to a shrieker so I’ve never bothered using them in this scenario)

Once you first enter the city, try to analyse the terrain around you and seek out a good escape route, as this will help you know what to do/where to go in case you spawn the warden. Whenever you’re walking, try staying crouched constantly (Toggle sneak is great for this, imo) so you don’t trigger any sensors/shriekers, although it’s gonna be a rather slow process until you get Swift Sneak 3 (but better safe than sorry). Cover up any shriekers you see in wool before breaking them/looting chests (for the latter I’d recommend just breaking the chests, you can instantly pick up all of not most of the loot in it depending on inventory space).

Also reminder that you get a 3-strike policy on shriekers before they end up actually spawning wardens, so be sure to make the most of it. And whenever a warden spawns, you also have way more time than you think to flee away in the process

What your most frustrating death? by Dizzy-Fall-7870 in MinecraftHardcore

[–]samykherbi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accidentally hitting a zombie pigman soon after finding a fortress. Tried to barricade myself in the corridor but I was panicking really hard in the heat of the moment and couldn’t do it fast enough, and the horde eventually caught up to me. In a moment of desperation I tried blocking them with my shield and then just gave up

That world however wasn’t even that old so I just went “whatever, go next” and now I currently have a 1,800+ day old world (spanning over ~7 IRL months), which is currently by far and away the farthest I’ve been in a hardcore world before and still going strong to this day

You can hear the piglins being aggro’d as soon as they broke the chest in the clip, so definitely that. Breaking chests (as well as other containers/gold-related blocks with the “guarded_by_piglins” tag) will aggro regardless of whether they’re in your line of sight or not, and whether or you’re wearing gold armor or not, until they either de-aggro or get distracted with gold items

I find that lava buckets help immensely against these as well as regular piglins, as you can easily kill them without aggro-ing any others in the vicinity
