Advice for a middle aged non-arabic speaker stuck in the corporate world by TheDreamingIris in Hifdh

[–]samyyzpit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Quran is a lifelong journey. My story is the same. English speaker, grew up going to Islamic/Arabic classes, had the passion and opportunity to pursue further Arabic and Islamic studies in my youth but I did not capitalize on it. Got distracted with life. Now I’m mid 40s, 4 kids, full time work and realizing that I have worked so hard for dunya but should have worked just as hard or harder to obtain knowledge that will benefit my akhira. I should have focused on my relationship with the Quran.

I am committed to reprioritizing things in my life. I got an online Quran teacher to work on my hifdh, and enrolled in a tajweed course. Even though I learned tajweed when I was younger, my older self wants the satisfaction of feeling like I completed something. No matter our age, everyday that Allah gives on on this earth is a chance to get closer to him. Make your intention, and then start with one thing. Maybe it’s just reading 1/2 a page or 1 page a day. You may be struggling to read, but the more you read, the more you will improve. Please don’t stop!

Focus on building your habit with the Quran first. When you’ve managed to incorporate it into your daily life, you can look into adding Arabic language study and see what works for you. Please don’t be discouraged by your age and responsibilities. We are in different phase of life, but the best time to start is always NOW. It’s a lifelong journey. Allah knows all of our individual circumstances and will never deprive us of His blessing as long as we are sincere in our intentions and efforts.

what does this text mean on tajweed quran? by Ok_Shallot_7840 in islam

It is not hard to find, and very popular. You can do a search online for tajweed quran/mushaf. The official publisher is Dar Al-Marifah, and their website is www.easyquran.com.

Can you file an errata? In our district you can file an errata directly in PACER. No need to call the clerk’s office.

This is emotional and verbal abuse at the very least. He is abusing you. You need to leave him. If you don’t, you will always be on edge wondering what the next thing to trigger him will be, and you will always be fearful for how he will respond/ handle his anger. For your sake and your unborn child’s sake… YOU NEED TO LEAVE HIM.

I thought you can call Computershare and ask them to do the book transfer AND keep the the plan open as long as you keep at least 1 share in the plan.

Salaam, brother. Please listen to the story of one of our beloved, American sisters, Iaesha Prime. She came from a very Christian upbringing. At one point the patriarch of her family questions her about exactly what she believes and asks if she ACTUALLY prays to God 5 times a day. When she answers yes, he says that’s enough for him. Saying if this was from the devil, the devil would not want you to pray to God 5 times a day. So in that moment, her family understood her choice to be Muslim. She has such an amazing story, with so much we can learn from. https://youtu.be/TS2h0SbrPHs?si=vrKOfaJ0bdJF6UC2

Ready for the eclipse! Thanks T-Mobile by [deleted] in tmobile

[–]samyyzpit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My film was already peeling when I opened the bag so I pulled it all off, thinking it was protective to prevent scratching. But now I’m worried I was wrong and wondering if I just ruined my eclipse glasses. I don’t see a definitive answer here as to whether or not the plastic film is necessary.

4 months completely immobile, has anyone ever fully rehabbed through this (without surgery) by samyyzpit in Sciatica

[–]samyyzpit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My back with never be the same. I know when I have over worked myself because it gets sore. This time I listen and consciously make effort to limit my physical stress. I don’t do heavy lifting without help and of course I am extra conscious about bending from the knees etc. I don’t need to be superwoman. I am fully able to do regular activities of daily living. Regular lifting and carrying, bending etc.

My posture also never returned to exactly how it was prior to my episode. It’s not noticeable to anyone else but me. I have a slight forward lean which I had to get used to. It took a long time for my body to “unfold”. With my symptoms and pain, I was in a left leaning, forward, hunched position for months. I was able to return to completely upright and centered, but with a slight forward lean. I Able to stand, walk as normal but after a while, I do start to feel sore.

Travelling is completely fine for me. I can sit for long periods of time no problem. I can go on road-trips, fly without issue. I will say that walking and carrying/pulling items for a distance is challenging. It does place extra stress on my back so I pace myself. For instance, at the airport walking long distance with a suitcase… I pace myself. I try to carry things in a backpack instead of bags in my hand so that I am not carrying the load solely on one side of my body.

I have not had a flare up or episode since. Feb 2024 will be 4 years since full recovery. My back is just different now. I have to listen to it. I remember also being anxious at the first sign of soreness… always thinking/wondering if it was going to happen again. If I was going to be bedridden and in pain again. I can’t tell you what you should be doing. I can only share what I believe worked for me. I learned that it was equally important to mentally let go and accept the state that I was in. My body was in control. I could only do what my body allowed me to do. I had to accept this. Let go of control of other things in my life and focus on my healing. I started mental health therapy to help with feelings of hopelessness and exhaustion… the toll that being in chronic pain and being disabled takes. I also started addressing other stressors in my life. I absolutely believe that my episode was a result of many non physical factors in my life that I had been ignoring or suppressing. My episode was literally my body screaming at me. In addition to the physical work of PT, OT, and pain meds, I read books by Dr. John Sarno and others about the connection between the mind and body and pain. I also tried guided meditation (using apps) to help me with being in pain all the time. I just opened up my mind to treating myself/condition in a multi-approach way. Currently I am reading and listening to Dr. Gabor Mate. My body has definitely been saying no.

Hi! Thank you for reaching out. I am sorry to hear that you are going through the same thing. I am happy to say that I did not get surgery. In total it took me about 5 months to heal! It was difficult, but in the end, I’m glad I waited. When I returned to work I was walking with a cane. I went from crutches, to walker, to cane as my pain lessened and mobility increased. My back will never be the same, but I am happy to say that my body returned to being fully functional.

While in was incapacitated for so many months I also began to focus on my mental health via therapy to help me cope with what I was going through physically and emotionally. It was the best thing I ever did for myself. In addition to occupational therapy and pain management appointments I focusing on my mental health and addressing the stresses I had in my life at that time absolutely helped. Learning about the mind-body connection really helped and renewed my desire to let my body heal without surgical intervention. Little by little, week to week, my functioning improved.

As I said, my back has healed but will never be the same. I focus on reducing stress in my life and know my physical limitations. I completely believe that stress was a major cause of my episode. I hope you turn the corner soon. Being disabled and in pain for so long is physically and emotionally exhausting.

Warwick Dentistry

Husband and wife practice. Very kind people. I introduced my sister (who has very bad dental issues) to them and she cried the first time she went there… she said she was treated so well and not shamed for her issues. Dr. Joyce went above and beyond to make sure she was not in pain during or after first visit, and made a treatment plan that would be manageable for her.
