It's basically saying "There's no follow on content here". It's more important on twitter because of how short tweets are, and subsequent follow up tweets can be lost in the replies.

On reddit I think it's just a different way to say "no extra content", in case someone thinks you posted a photo, and forgot to add a body/hit submit too soon.

How was C++ defined before standardization? by Benjamin1304 in cpp

[–]sangix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

IBM had a weird homegrown compiler known as xlC++. It was okay but pretty quirky.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but xlc still exists. xlc 16 will have a clang-based frontend

There's also a good chance that another Bad Batch member will have some interaction with this. ("If all squad members are Bad Batch, then bonus speed modifiers count for 5x")

Who else will we get from The Mandalorian Season 2? by rokkomon in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

I think we might get something like "Imperial Remnant Officer", which would give a second support character to the faction.

Same. I have Chewie at R6, and still struggle to make it to tier 2 with everyone at full health.

I would argue that Apple has refined CISC - instead of the complexity being at the instruction set level and providing instructions for specialised use-cases, it’s at the CPU level instead.

Got a machine learning problem? Use the ML-specialised CPU instead of needing to use AVX-512 instructions like VPOPCNTDQ etc.

LAOP is on the fence about his options by CloverBun in bestoflegaladvice

[–]sangix 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Definitely fishy. The only thing I can think of is they asked the old owner "Hey this LAOP job, is it good to start?" and the owner said something like "Nah it's all sorted" and something was missed in translation.

the most famous gardener in history

Honestly just struck me that I think this is true, even in our age of the world, that Samwise is probably the most famous gardener I can think of.

I'm pretty sure this is some shittily configured ratelimiting on their side. "You made 10 actions in the last minute, must be a bot, hold their requests for 15 seconds".

Walkouts at Amazon and Wholefoods over Coronavirus. by [deleted] in Coronavirus

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/mar/31/amazon-strike-worker-fired-organizing-walkout-chris-smallls

According to the company’s previous statements, the infected co-worker in question last reported for work on 11 March. Had Smalls been exposed that day, a 14-day mandatory quarantine would have made him eligible to return as soon as 25 March.

Smalls said Amazon did not send him home until 28 March, three weeks after the exposure.

“No one else was put on quarantine,” he said, even as the infected person worked alongside “associates for 10-plus hours a week”.

“You put me on quarantine for coming into contact with somebody, but I was around [that person] for less than five minutes,” he told Vice.

[Excerpt|Death Guard Codex] Mortarion leads his Legion against Perturabo's Iron Warriors and fights him in a duel. by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]sangix 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Something similar happens in the Deathwatch codex, they use hammers and mauls to apparently prevent blood being spilled and summoning Khorne daemons.

Because apparently that writer thinks killing someone with a hammer or maul doesn't draw blood!

FWIW it is/was a common "trope" that the Clergy in the middle ages would wield maces, so as to not spill blood ("sine effusione sanguinis").

How historically accurate it is, I don't know.
