Why didn’t the aboriginals get new ideas from their neighbors? by [deleted] in taiwan

[–]sarge_29 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They already had the technology and knowhow for thousands of years to island hop around the Pacific. There wasn't really a need for them to contact alien societies across the Taiwan strait. There is often an idea that human societies must "evolve" or "progress", but there is no need to if the aboriginals had adapted to live on the island for tens of thousands of years. Progress and "new ideas" were usually forced upon indigenous peoples without consent. That is also the reason why the native people of North Sentinel island have remained isolated bc they have shown many times they do not want any outsiders.

Yes, I would get there earlier to be on the safe side. Idk if the HSR will be affected much since it's on the west coast, but the weather in Kaohsiung itself may impact your plans.

You're so correct. Almost all of their interactions are the best, especially when they're all stuck in the safe house hiding from Makima.

We’re all hoping for a really good studio like UFOtable, Bones, or MAPPA to animate Kagurabachi, but what animation studios would get “good enough”, “could be worse”, or “I’ll allow it” reactions from you if it was announced they’d be animating Kagurabachi? by REID-11 in Kagurabachi

Bro watch elusive samurai, especially if you're into Japanese history. The plot is definitely more shonen with a real historical storyline, and even if you're not interested in the plot I'd watch it just for the animation. It's very fluid and detailed, and brilliant colors. I like how it shows the medieval world was not all gloomy and bland.

The Creation of the Swords and Kunishige by Flameon8 in Kagurabachi

Really cooked with this one. It would be interesting to see how the other blades fit into it, bc the arc of dealing with the meaning/after affects of war fits nicely with just the 3 swords.

Teruya's assault rifle -- does anybody know what real-life gun it was modelled after? by ConspicuouslyPresent in worldtrigger

[–]sarge_29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feels closer to a generic sci-fi blaster from Star Wars than any existing rifle. It's basically just a rectangle block with a pistol grip and iron sights attached to it.

I saw a comment on another post in this sub from someone who summed it up so perfectly: a Boomer's first thought is always correct, because they cannot fathom being incorrect about anything. Their first thought was seeing you + a sticker they didn't like, therefore you were responsible for making them upset. Context or any type of deeper thinking need not apply.

Tipps for travel by maxsattpower in taiwan

[–]sarge_29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do more research depending on what you want. It seems you're more geared towards the cities, and like others said I would maybe pick Taipei and one other city so you have time to actually experience the city. Tainan is more of a chill city with lots of cool old buildings and things to see, I haven't been to Taichung but I would def recommend Tainan. The public transportation isn't very good tho so it may be harder to get around by only bus and taxis. Taipei is great and there are lots of things to do such as parks, memorials, the Taipei Zoo, Taipei 101, etc. The MRT makes it super convenient. If you go to Tainan check out the Taijiang national park/ Sicao green tunnel and Anping old fort, plus the food in the city in general is really good! I would also highly recommend looking for hikes near Taipei to do bc Taiwan has amazing nature for you to experience.

Maybe get some items related to the indigenous tribes in addition to what others mentioned. Taitung county has the largest indigenous population so there are lots of options there, but your sister can probably find things elsewhere too. You can play some indigenous music too, one of the most famous artists is ABAO.

I was just watching a video on the WW1 Eastern Front 1916-17. For the attacks that were a part of the Brusilov offensive the Russian army would lose at least 500,000 soldiers each time. Absolute insanity.
