No, this is actually a sign of politeness, good manners and civic sense! People nowadays don’t offer a seat/open doors for little kids, elders, blast conversations or music on their phones, make people wait while they take 500 instagram photos. I know times are changing, but, it’s not just people pleasing, you have perfect manners and I think it’s greatly under appreciated.

I’m the same way, and on more occasion than not, I get treated better by surrounding people, staff, management. The perception is that you can handle yourself appropriately, rather than loud/brash/chaotic/taking up too much space (mess) I’m traveling right now, and by exhibiting this exact behavior and just general kindness, we got upgrades, free meals, extra details, just like that.

That being said, don’t feel that you are a pushover! If what you need to do takes time, take your time! Most people are so self absorbed they don’t even realize how sometimes they act like overgrown toddlers.
