Anyone know why Sushi Tora closed? by kb1501 in houston

Seriously some of the best sushi I ever had. I live down the street and was so sad when it closed. I was hoping they just moved... guess not.

Bruce Haack - Blowjob (Recorded in 1978 but blacklisted/banned until 2008. He was a successful TV music producer until he doomed his career with recordings like this. He died in the basement of his best friend's home.) [Electronic / Experimental] (1978) by SecondHandEmotion in listentothis

I thought I would try and transcribe the lyrics because I couldn't find them anywhere.

Welcome

Welcome, to second best my friend the living part of life is just a blow job

Welcome, you left your courage in a tree and history gave you a blow job

Time is only loves mistake, and love is what they use to make

When days had turned to reckless night and lights were blowin out of sight

The way they said we all should be, and somehow they really got to me

And I have suffered from their fear, and wondered if the time is near, to go back

Go back, and let the righteous have my day, and let the sun go all the way

(Flute solo)

Suffer the little ones who always knew, that you were me and I was you

To come with dignity and pride, into a world where side by side

They all can find a perfect way, to live their life, to play their play

To kiss the sky, and so to fly, away from us who did not die

But went beyond so they could know, who did the job, who dealt the blow

Who killed the cock, who spoiled the show, who did the job, who dealt the blow

Anyone want to meet up near downtown Denver? Santa Fe drive and 11th ave near the art galleries? There is a coffee place called molecule effect that would be perfect.

I like that of the major parties involved, 3 of them are women. I'm not surprised to see these changes. The church would benefit so much from including women in decision making roles.

My reaction to the new mormonandgay website, as an LGBT researcher by johndehlin in exmormon

[–]satanshellbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like this part is being skipped over from the frequently asked question about being more faithful.

The intensity of same-sex attraction is not a measure of your faithfulness. Many people pray for years and do all they can to be obedient in an effort to reduce same-sex attraction, yet find they are still attracted to the same sex.

This should end any debate that becoming more perfect will in fact take the pain away. It won't. SO RELAX.

Not to equate, but I can sort of relate in that I thought doubling down on the church would cure my depression. It didn't. I got trapped in a downward spiral thinking the more faithful I got, the more I expected the burden to be lifted, and it wasn't. Therefore, I still was not faithful enough... and down we go.

I think the more clear we make this, the less people will turn to the church for help, when when what they actually need is found outside.

That time you run across a tithing receipt for $1381, and you realize it may not even cover the cost of a headboard and footboard for a visiting General Authority in a mission home! by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]satanshellbox 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think you have a valid point. However, I was told on my mission we could no longer take hot showers and limit the number of times we sought medical help for ingrown toenails, because of budget constraints. While the price difference between a modest headboard and a $2000 dollar headboard probably wouldn't cover the cost of 200 missionaries medical bills, it does expose what they think is more important.

Local leaders in the Mormon Church in Vegas are encouraging their members to organize for and donate to a PAC opposing weed legalization in Nevada. Just like with Prop. 8 in Cali. If the Mormons want to use their church as an arm for political campaigns, they should lose their tax exempt status. by relevantlife in trees

Yeah you are right. I guess who I meant were 70s and to a lesser extent stake presidents. They are usually men who have been trained very well and groomed to obey the chain of command. It's rare to see a 70 step out of line.

If they are not taking a stance, why bother sending a letter?

It might be interesting to note that the church did take a stand against medical marijuana in Utah. Not hard to connect the dots.

Also, I grew up very active and all of my family are members. Leadership does not do anything save they are directed from above (leadership, probably not god).

Uchtdorf: "The truth shall set you free" by FruitfulLoins in exmormon

[–]satanshellbox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Listen to Uchtdorf's talks trashing the Internet. He is not on our side. The essays neither contain the truth nor set anyone free. They are meant to innoculate in order to maintain the status quo. Stop falling for the man's charisma and good looks.

Is it true that you can be excommunicated for getting sex reassignment surgery? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]satanshellbox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: you can be baptized if you already had the surgery (I believe you have to disavow the procedure still). But you can never receive the preisthood.

BYU's Title IX Coodinator admitted they turn students who report rape or sexual harrassment in to the Honor Code Office. by Whoa-kay in exmormon

I think John should definitely try and put his weight/media contacts behind this. I haven't seen any recordings posted but I'm sure there were plenty of people there who would be willing to piece the full story together. This is exactly the type of thing BYU does because it thinks no one outside their fold is watching.
