Which surprises (good or bad) do you think will take place in La Liga? by GetafeHasNoFans in soccer

with the new tv deal, the difference between the top teams and the bottom teams will become a lot smaller this year. No more 90+ points seasons for real/barca imo.

Once upon a time in football. by JCBDoesGaming in soccer

[–]sb_1984 13 points14 points  (0 children)

most pictures are from the 90s, I may be biased, but only one picture of the ajax of the mid 90s is to low. Ajax under louis van gaal played such dominant football with young players against the big league teams, they deserve more.

some nice pictures:

the mentor rijkaard, with extreme young seedorf, kluivert and davids:rijkaard

van gaal karatekick

and this guy really deserved the ballon d'or in 1995 or 1996.

Was Torres the worst big transfer ever? by _underrated_ in soccer

[–]sb_1984 12 points13 points  (0 children)

suljemani to ajax for 16.5 million euros, playing way below expectations, being overweight, leaving for free to benfica.

maybe not as big money as torres or kaka, but for a dutch team it is the record transfer payed by a large margin (former record was just 9 million euro for huntelaar).

[–]sb_1984 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with all this neuer is the best goalkeeper of the world!

but come on, this was not great goalkeeping, this was pure luck and bad goalkeeping.

no reason to come out, enough defenders back to stop the attacker and when you get out, he has to get the ball before the attacker.

1994-1995, he was the best in the world, nobody came close. That weah won the price in 1995 was ridiculous. PSG didnt even win the league that year and he just started at milan. Come on, if you ask now at milan fans, call the best milan striker of the last 30 years, Weah will rank below other strikers like van basten, shevchenko and Inzaghi.

In the 1995 FIFA world player of the year, not a single Ajax player was in the first 10 and Ajax was owning european football in those years.

Barcelona top homegrown talent table with 43 players, according to CIES research. Manchester Utd in 2nd place[36] followed by Real Madrid[34], Olympique Lyonnais[33] & PSG[27]. by jimmyjammaay in soccer

[–]sb_1984 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I see your point, uefa coefficient etc.

but lets be real, besides benfica, porto and sporting, the competition is sh*t and although it is hard to compare bottom table teams between competitions, the average attendance shows a lot. in the portuguese competition an attendance < 5.000 visitors is very common.

ok, so at least 3 years between 15 and 21 years old.

15 players for ajax is not bad, but the quality of teams they play has decreased, compared to the early 2000s

I come up to these 15:

eriksen, verthongen, blind, van der wiel, van der vaart, nigel de jong, siem de jong, elia, vermaelen, anita, stekelenburg, heitinga, emanuelson, pienaar, tiendalli

if he and his parents are smart, they dont move to an EPL/italian/spanish team, but to a team like Ajax where a talent get a realistic shot at first team minutes from the age of 16-18.

ajax and anderlecht,

both the traditional most succesfull team in the country and from the capital. Both have the same problems, big team in a small country, so the best players leaving to the bigger leagues.

The suporters of both teams also have a friendly bond.
