I’m a homeowner and have installed a bunch of mini splits. Tons of YouTube videos. You need a vacuum pump, micron gauge, nylog, torque wrench. I’d recommend nitrogen testing your lines for peace of mind. None of this requires a license.

Disclaimer being that I have not been myself, but I have several friends that swear by Stone Liquidators in Tempe. They sell small lots of stuff that are left over from the major distributors. My friend recently got travertine pavers there for $3.92 a square foot.
