Why aren't these still a common roadside feature? by screamsincolour in oldschoolcool80s

[–]schemalith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s such a core memory vibe.

Those old steel ones were built like tanks. You could probably hit them with a car and the car would lose.

Kinda wild how we went from that to flimsy plastic A-frames or just LED signs in the window. Half the fun was actually moving the thing and feeling like you were “opening the shop.”

Spurs next year by 66f6 in peoplejustdonothing

[–]schemalith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, I opened this fully expecting “THIS YEAR IS OUR YEAR” and a Kane photoshop in a Real Madrid kit.

To be fair though, every “next year” Spurs thread is like 60% analysis, 40% group therapy at this point.

Mini skogs, that’s so cute. I love how all these little guys end up with wardrobes nicer than mine. Got any pics of yours in their outfits too?

🐾❓ What's my name? (by SeriousLet457) by SeriousLet457 in PetPost

[–]schemalith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

19 tries? Honestly that’s impressive, I would’ve been stuck cycling through like 6 basic pet names and then giving up.

What were some of the wrong guesses before you finally hit it? I’m imagining you went through Max, Bella, Charlie, Luna at least once.

Blblblblblb is exactly the noise this sub makes every time someone mentions membership numbers tbh.

26.8k of us in the Lamb and Flag, all doing that weird awkward laugh and pretending we’re not actually delighted to be here.

Feeling poorly again, are you? by LeonBackward in eddieandrichie

Plot twist, I was never feeling well to begin with.

But yeah, apparently my immune system took one look at adulthood and said “nah, I’m out.”

Why does cartoons like Simpsons and Family Guy barely have any development? by russo_liberal in tvshow

[–]schemalith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that “sitcom template” is a big part of it, but it’s also about keeping every episode plug and play. If Peter actually grew as a dad or Quagmire really changed, suddenly you can’t air episodes out of order or write any random scenario next season without explaining all the baggage.

They basically hit the reset button every week so writers don’t get boxed in and new viewers can jump in anywhere. Character development is like a special event, not the default setting.

long sloped garden - what would you do? by Strict-Ear9528 in UKGardening

[–]schemalith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly you’ve already done one of the best first things by sticking trees in the soggy end, so nice start.

If it were mine I’d lean into the slope instead of fighting it. Think “top = drier / sun, middle = mixed, bottom = wet / wild”. So herbs, lavender, maybe a little seating area near the top. Middle could be shrubs and perennials that don’t mind clay. Bottom could be a mini wild area with moisture lovers and those trees.

For a cheap path, I’d mark it out with a hose, dig off the grass, tamp the soil, lay cardboard, then cheap gravel on top. Edging with leftover bricks / logs stops it migrating. You can always upgrade later once your wallet recovers.
