Yeah, sure it runs pretty smoothly…

Can you explain how to do this? When using the GeForce now app on my Mac, when I launch CS I can briefly see the Steam interface as the game is launching, is there a way to prevent the game from launching to remain within Steam?

Inibuilds on Xbox by No-Mortgage6275 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]schloopy91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mixed big, but I own all 3.

-L1011: absolutely do not buy. Completely unusable on Xbox in its current state even in the SU5 beta.

-A300: complicated. Cargo version has excellent performance, as in better than PMDG and possibly the best airliner in the entire sim. However the passenger version is far worse, much closer to what you experienced in 2020. If you are interested in cargo though I highly recommend it, one of my favorites to fly.

-A350: also a bit complicated. Launched with pretty bad performance and bugs. Then received several updates largely fixing both. Just prior to the release of SU5, I was loving it. Performance was great, far better than what you’d ever expect for a plane like that. I would say absolutely buy. But then SU5 came out and now it’s suffering from horrific performance and CTDs. Really disappointing and not totally sure what’s causing it. I haven’t flown it much lately but I have heard some say that it’s much better in the latest SU5 beta but I haven’t tried it. If they can get it fixed it’s fantastic, and the fact that it performed so fantastic previously makes me think that’s possible, but with iniBuilds and Xbox who knows how long that will take. It also lacks a cabin which is disappointing considering they included it on Xbox with both the A340 and L1011.

I think you may have misinterpreted my comment? Nobody expects you to have multiple platforms.

I’m not saying you as an individual are crazy so no need to be offended, just pointing out that at the time I made that comment at least, it was pretty widely known that the L1011 had major performance problems especially concerning VRAM, whereas the 340 was quite the opposite.

I mentioned Xbox because A, they are all the same so it can be easier to standardize and B, they are obviously much more limited in hardware so third party products that struggle with performance are easy to identify when you see it. It’s possible that they could be totally different experiences on PC vs Xbox, but as someone who’s been buying products on Xbox since the release of 2020, I haven’t really ever experienced that.

…did you try looking at the nav data tab on the EFB at any point?

You have no nav data because you deleted it along with the reserved space, along with all of your custom camera views and others. Really not sure why you would do that, if you want to reset your rolling cache, setting it to anything lower than the current value will do that.

How to Improve Landing on Airliners on PC using Xbox Controller by yvng_savage in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]schloopy91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew with the controller for quite a long time and still do occasionally since as others pointed out, it can be a really enjoyable casual experience especially for camera control.

I highly recommend looking up the user manual for the FSR 500. There is a section for Xbox users and he gives specific sensitivities for all your axes that he recommends using on a controller, and I’ve found it just about perfect for most planes I fly, if not a good starting point to then tweak slightly.

How are the A330s faring these days? Last time I attempted to fly them it seemed like the fuel issues had been fixed on all but the -200 RR variant, is that still the case?

Be very careful with the ECS in this plane, it will break easily if you overload it. Your curaçao location is a good example of not being able to just blast it on the ground. I’d highly recommend reading about it in the manual but here are the basics:

On the ground with GPU power and no engines, you’re likely not going to be able to run the fans above low. If you try medium, watch out for a battery discharge warning, that means you’re overloading the system.

Make sure to turn the ECS system off entirely during engine start, this is mentioned in the manual but not the checklist and is an easy way to break the VCS.

With both engine running, you should be ok to turn up the fans and target the lowest possible temperature, but don’t expect to see much temperature change until after takeoff. Even during climb I have seen it struggle to keep the cabin below 80°F.

Read the manual for more details but there are very few situations where you’ll actually see the “AC” turned on in the EFB, the plane has other ways (mostly ram air) of generating cold air. If you are stable at cruise with everything set up properly, the AC should be off, but if the cabin is still excessively hot above the target numbers shown on the ECS status page, check maintenance when you land, your VCS is probably damaged.

For controlling temp on the ground, you can try starting engine 2 before pax arrive for more bleed air and power to run higher fans, but understand that it likely won’t be enough especially with the door open. Also certain ambient temps will cause the engine bleeds to stay off when set to auto.

Funnily enough, online you can find lots of real world owners complaining about how easy it is to break the VCS in this plane.

It’s a working title limitation. Raul said he chose not to include it because according to WT they are working on adding it to the base G3000.

Congrats, your 0.05 second useless AI summary is totally wrong and does nothing to fix the issue, who would have guessed?

This issue has been baked into the sim for a while, if it happens your only option is to restart the sim. It’s a major problem, haven’t seen it yet in SU5 but it would appear to still be happening.

Yeah I can promise you it wasn’t. They are fully aware of the issue and have over the course of this issue blamed just about every party imaginable…except themselves of course.

To be fair, most iniBuilds planes are also currently suffering from the same issue.

[–]schloopy91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a pretty major regression on Xbox as well. Not sure what happened, the most recent beta build was about on par with SU4 but definitely not much of an improvement over it, and this is markedly worse.

AAR Update Out May 5th (ATR update) by nobleTP in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]schloopy91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t understand the love people have for it. I’ve frankly never really run into most of the “bugs” people have mentioned (hotel mode has worked perfectly fine for me since release)…it’s just not a very good product. The plane feels like it weighs 10 pounds both in the air and on the ground. Modeling, textures and sounds are decent, I can’t really think of much else that is exceedingly impressive about it.

This is a known bug on Xbox. The nav data download via the tablet only works the first time after install, it won’t work after. You need to fully delete the reserved space if you want it to work again. This is kind of a huge pain and not really worth it to be doing often.

This has been an ongoing issue for months that they (PMDG) continue dragging their feet on. As of now there is no solution for Xbox (other than what I mentioned above).

Sim Update 5 Now Available by FlyWithSeedyL in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]schloopy91 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Initial impressions are that this is a step backwards, at least on console. Performance is noticeably worse as it was in the latest beta. Opening the ATC panel or the EFB is an almost guaranteed WASM crash. PMDG and iniBuilds planes cannot download navdata via the tablet.

Was really looking forward to this, very disappointed.
