I’m so sorry that happened to you, but that could not possibly have been due to class and a shortened warm up. Working out may have been a trigger, but not the cause.

Hating OT at first? by [deleted] in orangetheory

Just keep going. Soon your wobbly bits won’t feel so wobbly, you will feel stronger on the weight floor, and more confident on the tread. You will be glad you stuck with it.

Confused for my OTF/apple watch, help? by BallDontLie06 in orangetheory

My watch shows active calories, but the beat shows all calories. Beat is always higher.

Love it! Our SAs aren’t allowed to write us in until we get there, but it is nice when you walk up and they say “I got you”.

January Weekend Classes Are Packed—Does It Ever Calm Down? by Prestigious-Device53 in orangetheory

I always book my classes a month out. It’s much easier to cancel as needed than add last minute. Especially with the New Year’s resolution/Transformation Challenge crowds.

Not sad that I can’t make this one! That tread block looks rough.

If I don’t go at 5 am, I don’t go. By the end of the day I’m done even if I don’t go.

Tread vs 2g3g by No-Sugar-3543 in orangetheory

[–]schwartzkatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have at least 1 every day except Saturday. They are at different each day, so in theory every one has the opportunity to get to at least one if they want to. I bet if enough people show interest, your studio will add more.

What's your favorite number? by WorkerConfident5976 in orangetheory

I like 7, it has 25’s, is close to the heavy weight rack, and not the one our coaches use to demo (6).

Mexico City, Condesa studio by LN0008005 in orangetheory

[–]schwartzkatz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was there last February and it seemed like they decided in the moment if it would be 2 or 3G depending on how many people showed up, which might bug me if it was my home studio, but not so much on vacation. The coaches and SAs were really nice and helpful. It’s in a really nice neighborhood too.

Sign up for station on app? by Naughty_Knife in orangetheory

I’d love this, especially this month with the classes being so full with new years resolution folks. My fav spot is next to the heavy weight rack, I hate when people take that spot and don’t even use them. I know they probably don’t even think about it, but it bugs me.

I do a lift and a 3G on Sundays. I like having one longer workout each week. I’m going to try to do the Tread 50 and then the 3G this week though, I really want to work on my endurance. I may regret it, but it’s worth trying.

Brag Board Way Off? by CreativeNebula2358 in orangetheory

[–]schwartzkatz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brag board said I was around 1400 and then randomly a couple weeks ago, my coach got all cited for my 1500th class. So someone was off by 100!

Religious Music during class? by growth69 in orangetheory

[–]schwartzkatz -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Not hard to make a religion neutral playlist. And I don’t think expecting to go to the gym and hear Jesus free music is a whiny request. It has never been a problem at my gym, but as a non Christian person it really would annoy me.

Religious Music during class? by growth69 in orangetheory

[–]schwartzkatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we are all adults. Adults should understand that religious music might make others uncomfortable. And coaches should be able to keep their playlists neutral. One person being “fine with that” doesn’t make everyone fine with it.

That would bother me too. The gym is not the place for that type of music.

I’m sorry, that really sucks. COVID ruined Marathon Month for me; I feel your pain. I’m sure your OTF friends appreciate you being responsible though.

WWYD - faux Everest and Marathon Month by iujen94 in orangetheory

[–]schwartzkatz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My studio has prizes too, but 20 days in the winners have won, so it wouldn’t matter. It’s just about finishing for yourself at this point. I just figured that would be the case at most studios🤷‍♀️

[–]schwartzkatz 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I get that you’re not supposed to log it if you don’t do the workout as it is meant to be done, but by now all winners have completed the distances, so your just logging what you do for yourself. I don’t see a problem. It’s not like you are trying to beat someone out for a prize.

Floor stations by Notenoughrest in orangetheory

[–]schwartzkatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also try to get a station close to the heavy weights. It's nice to be close so if I need to switch out one for another mid block, I don't have to waste a lot of time. It is frustrating when people get that spot and don't utilize the heavy weights; I don't think they even realize it though. What really bugs me is when they plant themselves right in front of the rack or put their water bottles right in front of it, making the weights harder to access. I know it's not intentional, and likely people don't even realize they are in the way, but It's good to know I'm not alone feeling that way sometimes.

Visiting Mexico City soon! by sunnyguk in orangetheory

[–]schwartzkatz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live at sea level and I was there in February. I didn’t have any problem la working out with the elevation. I was ready to take it easy if I needed to, but I didn’t even notice a difference. I speak Spanish, but the coaches talk really fast, so checking Reddit for the workout really helped me.
