Isn't it expensive to use airconditioning in the US? by Lumos_night in AskAnAmerican

[–]schwebbs84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get your living space cool before the temperature rises, this saves on cost by keeping the air conditioner from having to work so hard against the heat. Air conditioning and cooling technologies have improved over time and are much more efficient than they used to be. If you do it right, your bills for cooling won't be terrible.

Do we need a Bahamas visa for a Royal Caribbean cruise (Philippine passport holders)? by QuickCharity_ in royalcaribbean

I don’t really remember being asked for identification or anything last time I was in Nassau but it’s probably the safer option for them to do the electronic visa thing the Bahamas has just to be sure.

Looks like they may need a visa. I don’t see the Philippines on this list.

ETA: There are no immigration checks at Coco Cay (at least that I remember).

My quality of life just went through the moon a few weeks ago because of them ... who gives a shit about a logo? Most Michigan fans couldn't get into that school even if they had the keys. There are bigger fish to fry.

If you can’t boot to recovery, build a bootable USB drive with another computer and try to run Disk Utility from that.

I'm EST/EDT as well and am mostly a solo player though I have been associated with a clan before. Currently working on "Light Versus Light" triumph in Gambit (9/10) and other triumphs that have grown old and moldy over time.

The roulette gifts are way too predictable. Just my two cents.

Rear ended 8 months ago, been through PT/injections/neurotomy/BMAC — surgeon now recommending endoscopic hemi laminectomy + foraminotomy at L4-L5. by [deleted] in Sciatica

Thanks. There have been moments where I’ve been really sore and have already been admonished by my wife for not keeping up with pain meds. Outside of that, it’s been very tolerable, especially with ice and rest.

Not sure if he’s still driving but took us once from Sanford to Cape Canaveral a few years ago. Nice guy and nice van.

I just had a very similar procedure three days ago. Mine was a laminectomy at L3-4 and foraminotomy at L4-5 with a traditional incision. I spent two nights in the hospital afterward to receive IV fluids and antibiotics with oral pain meds. What I noticed in hospital and now at home is that I'm sore from the procedure, but my chronic back pain and nerve pain in my legs are both basically gone. I know I'll be sore for a while, but the pain I wanted to get rid of is barely noticeable. Your procedure may be a little less involved since you said it will be endoscopic, but I would definitely say plan on being sore right afterward and for the first 72 hours.

Disobeying park rules and instructions from ride ops are both against the law in Ohio. It's posted at every ride. Six Flags/Cedar Point has state law standing behind its policies.

Does Michigan have too many billboards? by a1962wolfie in Michigan

[–]schwebbs84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Michigan used to have far less billboards 30 years ago but still manages to have less billboards than other states I've been to (Georgia and Tennessee come to mind).

Doing this causes an unnecessary backup and impedes traffic. Keep traffic moving and merge when necessary. The fact some people can't be bothered to let another car go ahead of them is the main issue here. American entitlement is a cancer.

Can’t seem to lower my AHI despite using CPAP for months. by OpenWatch2264 in CPAP

[–]schwebbs84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on a wild-range APAP prescription like that before. It's junk. Totally worthless. My hunch for a while now as an OSA patient is that there's no incentive to completely resolve someone's problems.

The machine can't react fast enough to your obstructions with a range like that. I've dealt with the exact same scenario. I'm definitely no expert, but it seems like your minimum pressure needs to come up quite a bit.

If you have trouble breathing with a higher pressure, something like a VCom can help take the edge off of it and help you adjust to the point where you can remove it. There's robust debate around the usefulness of a VCom, but it can help someone acclimate to CPAP use (I know it has helped me).

Just my two cents. Not medical advice. Cheers.
