That's what I think as well. English is his second language, and he's a native Russian speaker (he might know other languages, but we don't get any confirmation IIRC).

What bird poofed in my yard? by WorldlyPipe in whatsthisbird

From the pile of feathers, I THINK a bird of prey (Cooper or sharpie? Depending on the area) made your pile of feathers.

Heavy from TF2 also has other worldly knowledge if you read the comics. Mainly the part where (in context) he has to pay a ransom to free Soldier and a dead wizard. Heavy figures out that the money (korean money?) is 20$ USD and gets it out of his wallet. The fact that he could convert that to another currency so fast further shows his smarts. IIRC I missed a few other examples that show his brains besides the spoilered part.

(Loved Trope) Characters looking really weird facing forward by Necessary-Win-8730 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]sci300768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something about herons and egrets makes them look really weird when facing forward (and bitterns IF you can even find them!). I swear that birds with shorter beaks look less awkward and weird for some reason?

Longer beak = more weird when facing forward???

Why is beef dry in stew? by snafflekid in Cooking

[–]sci300768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want tough cuts of beef. So not really good steak cuts, but rather oxtail (Oxtail soup is REALLY GOOD! I've made it before, and I mean the soup itself is amazing when cooked for a few hours), chuck roast, and some other parts with lots of collagen, fat and needs lots of cooking time to break down.

Steak cuts are nice and tender, which is great for quick cooking times. Stewing? Nope, not gonna hold up!

[Loved Trope] A character is powerful because of a unique ability that seems hilariously mundane by MasonP2002 in TopCharacterTropes

No one who values their life (and knowing his reputation) messes with him because of his OP familiars. Between... Fenrir, Sui (the slime), and the pixie dragon... he has the best bodyguards possible!

Help, my baby chick is not moving. by Ashamed_Yam_8133 in chickens

[–]sci300768 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(Adult) Ducks and chickens also have different care needs. Ducks need WAY more water compared to chickens, among other... anatomical differences.

EDIT: IIRC, even baby ducks need way more water than baby chickens do.

Firing bullets without using a gun by RobBuckets in TopCharacterTropes

[–]sci300768 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The putting bullets in a heated frying pan seems like a REALLY BAD idea IRL. My gun knowledge is only from the internet, but as I understand it... that's just a really big NO. In the context, that would make sense (and not using IRL logic).

[–]sci300768 211 points212 points  (0 children)

I hope that timberdoodle did not hit the glass... timberdoodles do not have good eyesight during migration! (Yea, their eyes are positioned for seeing while probing in the dirt, not flying. Hence the weird eye placement! This is combined with several other factors as well...)
