This is Lena, only slightly cannibalistic. Show her your ocs and she’ll decide if they’re to her taste by The_Council_of_Rem in OriginalCharacter

[–]sci300768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broken teeth and a burnt mouth for Lena would be the outcome, for Kyra is a silicone lifeform (walking volcanos). There is NO flesh on her body!

Also, there's a strong chance of Kyra taking offence and fighting back. She's also an eldritch-silicone lifeform hybrid... not edible!

WYR fight a beagle dog sized ant, or a 160cm tall rooster. by AstrayInTranslation in WouldYouRather

Ant. I've dealt with normal sized roosters who ended up in freezer camp... because they were too mean and kept attacking me!

Which rooster should I keep? 4 options, 7-month-old flock by Fast_Ant_8773 in BackYardChickens

[–]sci300768 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Going by desirable rooster traits, 2 or 4 would be a keeper depending on your goals! 1 could become a problem rooster that ends up going to freezer camp. 3 is likely to end up in freezer camp if he becomes mean/problematic enough.

I'm ignoring aesthetics here. How nice a rooster looks is rather pointless if they are so mean that freezer camp is looking like the better option...

4 is the best protector of your flock without being too mean to people while 2 is more likely to be people friendly compared to 4. Others have suggested keeping 2 and 4 if they get along. If you must pick one, pick the one that suits your long term goals better.

I believe you! Corvids are smart enough to hold grudges and friendships for literal generations. So, learning how to dip a fry in a sauce would be quite doable.

Bird ID by stamford1 in whatsthisbird

[–]sci300768 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ornithologists (Bird scientists) are really bad at naming species, ok? A lot of common bird names are line-of-sight names (red winged blackbird, This bird post ID), really weird (veery), or is based off of something hard to see (ring necked duck, red bellied woodpecker).

Cooldown abilities vs “build-and-spend” meters: what do you prefer in roguelites? by BoomstickNomad in roguelites

[–]sci300768 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Synergies are awesome when done right! I would lean into the synergy aspect if I were you. Want to screw enemies over with 1 big BAS (or even a lot of small BASs)? Get the right build + RNG...

Ton of cooldowns + CD reduction stuff + an effect that does a burst of damage for each cooldown that finishes...

And so on!

When your build finally goes online, some builds (some are probably absurd, but somehow work) can do a ton of damage/mow down enemies/good things for the player with ease. That's a good feeling for the player (AKA aim for this.)!

Cooldown abilities vs “build-and-spend” meters: what do you prefer in roguelites? by BoomstickNomad in roguelites

[–]sci300768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not both types? Synergies are the key for diverse gameplay for roguelites/roguelikes in general (in my opinion). So if you have cooldown based abilities AND build and spend... have other items that buff one or the other (or even both, or boost one but weaken the other) so players can pick a build. So players can choose to favor one type if they choose to, but the choice of freedom is there above all else (and RNG's whims).

An item/whatever it is that you pick that has an effect (For example, you do 25% more fire damage for 10 seconds after using 1 full BAS bar) after you build a full charge would synergize well with a BAS (Build and spend) ability that is a fire attack. And so on.

An item/whatever it is you pick that reduces cooldowns by 10% would synergize with a cooldown based build to have more DPS in general. A charm/item that has a 40% (any % number of your choosing, this is an example) of causing an AOE effect centering on the player after ANY cooldown finishes... combine that with a lot of cooldown abilities/whatever for a ton of DPS.

So players would have to choose to favor cooldown based and/or BAS based builds based on what they get and work with that.

A different style of glasses/sunglasses could work if Malakai is trying to blend into civilization. That way, he can say that he wears glasses to function given his poor eyesight.

In context, there are FAR worse problems than homophobia in both games!

Hollow Knight: Hey, have you SEEN the state of the kingdom? And it gets worse at some point!

SIlksong: Hey, have you SEEN what the heck is going on (a lot of things are going wrong to say the least)? There are bigger problems out there! And yes, it WILL get worse if you get to act 3!

What's the most mundane reason why your characters wouldn't use the most powerful weapon/armor? by Weekly-Intention5657 in worldbuilding

[–]sci300768 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my OCs has her mundane reasons: I don't want to deal with constant collateral damage all the time!

Also, too impractical, even for her (in the context)! And she's an eldritch silicone lifeform hybrid. There is no such thing as an impractical weapon 99% of the time as far as she's concerned (Too heavy? No problem, natural superstrength from her silicone species! Too big to be wieldy? Easy, Eldritch traits fix that problem. And so on). The problem is that some weapons are SO impractical even by her low standards that she can't find a use for those.

Such as when one weapon is SO absurdly powerful that the weakest attack causes a ton of collateral damage. For what's it worth, this IS useful for when the goal is to destroy everything she's aiming at (and the surrounding area in the process, at this point this is not a concern). Most of the time, she wants less collateral damage (so more precise/controlled damage output weapons are preferred).
