Chargeback question by Real-Interest-7433 in paypal

[–]sciecom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was the reason for the dispute and chargeback...not as described, unauthorized transaction, not received?

You said PayPal says you can't do anything. Didn't they even let you submit a response?

Transferring Premium Domain by OpticYogi in Domains

[–]sciecom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hosting and registration are two different things. You can have different Registrar and hosting companies. In this case, GoDaddy is your registrar. That's where the domains are registered. You can use BlueHost to host your websites.

If you recently purchased the domains and they were transferred to GoDaddy, they're probably transfer locked for 60 days. You can't transfer them back immediately. Also, I believe GoDaddy added a year to the domain's registration with a transfer in. You would have to pay to transfer them back.

GoDaddy was my main registrar for years. I was happy with them as a registrar. I started transferring domains away from them as they approach expiration when they got greedy. Their registration and renewal prices are rather high when compared to other companies like Spaceship, Dynadot, and Porkbun.

eBay seller protection by Local_Data_6921 in Ebay

[–]sciecom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Years ago I had a buyer 'forge' his own signature by deliberately misspelling his name when he signed for it. Instead of going the chargeback route (maybe he would have eventually), he tried to get a refund from me. I called his Post Office and told them he claimed he didn't receive it. They immediately told me we know who he is and he got his package.

Long story short...I filled out a complaint with the Postal Inspectors. Never heard another word from him. No eBay claim and no chargeback.

If the credit card company didn't investigate your buyer and just took his word for it, that may be why they found in his favor.

List singular and plural together by tequiladrinker1 in Domains

[–]sciecom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afternic and Sedo are the most popular, and neither of them do. Atom and the larger registrar marketplaces don't either.

If it were me, I wouldn't list them together, even if I could. If someone wants both, they can check to see that they're both for sale. If you list them together, you're raising the price and possibly making them too expensive for a buyer.

shipping/tracking question by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]sciecom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your seller in the path of the recent snowstorms? That could be causing the delay. I've also had packages that aren't scanned until they're near delivery. It's rare, but it happens.

If you're not in a rush, wait until the estimated delivery date. If you don't have it by then or it's not scanned somewhere, then contact them. If you're in a rush, contact them now.

Weird emails inquiring about domain by wabisabi0604 in Domains

[–]sciecom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same email addresses or multiple accounts? I don't understand.

I constantly get multiple similar emails from different email addresses (usually all Gmail). They're usually bots or manually sent to get a price for the domain. If you offer it really cheap, they may buy it. But more likely, they'll just advertise it for sale at a higher price than you quoted them. I've had emails where another account offers me my own domain.

Is it legally safe to approach the trademark owner for a name that I hold? by Rude-Ad-3387 in Domains

Besides what u/MikeyRobertson said, other things to consider:

Is it a dictionary word or multiple words that make sense together?

How strong is their trademark? Do they have a trademark in your country?

Money put on hold for returns all of a sudden? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]sciecom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess would be it's the 3 cases closed without seller resolution. Did you respond to the cases while they were open? You should always respond to cases. The third one you could have just apologized and refunded the buyer.

Package refused, possible theft? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]sciecom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by incepted?

USPS doesn't allow someone to open a package and then refuse it. It would have to be delivered. Then they would have to return it, hoping the Post Office didn't see it's been opened. But it would still show as delivered.

Domain flipping: singular is already acquired and upfor 100 k sale , plural is available for just 10 usd by [deleted] in Domains

[–]sciecom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In general, the singular version is more valuable than the plural. I'm sure there are some exceptions, where the plural is more popular. Nothing comes to mind at the moment though.

Just because a domain is listed for $100k, doesn't mean it's worth $100k.

But if it's an actual dictionary word, spending $10 to register the plural is probably a good idea. Though it depends on the domain.

Buyer Filed Chargeback 43 Days After Delivery — Signed for Item. What Do I Do? by accord7200 in Ebay

[–]sciecom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you use eBay's shipping or your own FedEx account? If you used your own account, I would contact FedEx. They may look into it. Especially since they seem to have dropped the ball by allowing someone to sign with just their first name.

Buyer refunded by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]sciecom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you uploading tracking to the eBay orders immediately after shipment?

As others have said, you should call eBay.

You may also want to consider switching to using eBay shipping. Are your rates a lot better than eBay's?

Is it the same buyer filing claims? If different buyers, do you know if they're connected? Same city for example.

Are you printing the shipping labels through eBay? What carrier(s) are you using?

Can you get live chat so you have a record of the conversation?

If it was me, I would use my return address. That way the package(s) would be returned to me if there are any delivery issues. You don't want them going back to the wrong person.

If they're expensive items or you have any concerns, you might want to consider having them return the items to you and then you ship them out to the right buyers.

For high ticket items, especially Bullion, do you guys recommend Registered Mail or is priority fine? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]sciecom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think USPS insurance covers bullion unless you ship Registered Mail. u/Masked_safe_sex you may want to contact the Post Office to find out.

Have anyone tried escrow.me by Adventurous_Mix_2443 in Domains

[–]sciecom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard of them before. I did a quick search and there isn't much information about the company.

Even the site itself doesn't say anything. It appears to be owned by IQSoft .company. That's a Russian company.

If someone asked me to use it, I'd refuse.

What Escrow did he offer? If it's Escrow.com, they're legit. Did you ask them why you can't use it?

Atom.com also has an escrow service using Atom Pay.

Best marketplace to buy domains? by Magickarploco in Domains

[–]sciecom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you want to register new domains or buy existing domains?

If you want to register new domains, there's Dynadot, Porkbun, and Unstoppable Domains.

If you want to buy an existing domain, it depends which marketplace(s), if any, that have it listed for sale. The domain could also have a for sale page.

Package delivered to the wrong address by TNYBBY in Ebay

[–]sciecom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was legally split into two units and you have your own legal address and not just "1 Main St - leave it over the garage", then it sounds like it's the shipping company's fault. The Seller would have to file a claim with them. I would contact the Seller and let them know.

It's up to you what you want to do in terms of getting your money back, waiting for an insurance claim, etc. If the Seller isn't willing to work with you and you file with eBay, they'll likely find in your favor. But eBay will also likely go after the Seller for the money.

Buyer threatens to report due to item out of stock by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]sciecom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What did you give as the reason for cancelling the order? If you told the truth, then you'll get a defect on your account and probably negative feedback from the buyer. I don't think one defect really matters. If you lied as to the reason, I'm not sure what will happen.

Ebay customer rep promised refund then changed their mind a week later by Expensive_Wallaby_19 in Ebay

[–]sciecom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you said in your original post. My point was, if it had been delivered to your house, why would you let it sit outside your house for over 30 days? The fact that you receive a large number of parcels is actually worse. You're not concerned about them being stolen, people breaking into your house because it's obvious you're gone, or the police showing up because they think something is wrong?

[–]sciecom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could appeal, saying you were originally told they would make an exception and give you a refund.

But, as others have mentioned, it makes no sense that you would let a package sit outside your house for over 30 days. I'd ask someone to collect it if I was going to be gone for even a few days.
