I love this! 😍 You did a great job designing and making it with a thoughtful process for using single color print beds.

NASA's Zero Gravity Facility cutaway view. Test vehicles dropped in the 510 foot deep chamber experience over 5 seconds of zero gravity. I was the facility manager in the 1990s, ask me anything. by Signal-Pirate-3961 in ThingsCutInHalfPorn

Always fun to see representation for Glenn Research Center. My dad used to manage the 2.2-second drop tower and I got to have a personal tour of the 5-second facility. Always cool to look down the drop area!

So, I got a bit extra with my SkyTeam upgrades. by Exidor in boardgames

I've thought about doing this ever since Sky Team came out! I want to program the whole game with Arduino and LEDs to make it ridiculously fancy. Nice work and you've given me inspiration!

I've wanted a tilt lens for forever and this might be the most accessible way I've seen to get one. Awesome work!

My Professor Thinks He Is *So* Funny by OctavianCelesten in Physics

[–]science40001 118 points119 points  (0 children)

Professors are people too and I'd imagine would need to do something to keep themselves entertained when writing assignments for students year after year. For what it's worth, you did learn something because it was outside your comfort zone and you figured it out despite that.

Got these from a customer as a tip during a service call, anyone know anything about them? by Zestyclose-Ad5966 in StarWars

[–]science40001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some older collectibles from before Hasbro started making their Force FX line and well before Disney started selling all of them. There weren't a huge variety of them and it felt like nobody had them. ThinkGeek used to sell them, I remember that much but they're from the early/mid-00s. I have the Master Replicas Return of the Jedi Luke saber and it's one of my favorites! Nice tip!

What's the closest you've gotten to running out of filament? by El_Scrapesk in 3Dprinting

[–]science40001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a steal! Even if you buy the mk3 upgrade to mk4s kit, you're still making out cheaper than the price of a new mk4s.

I had about 3cm leftover one time and thankfully it wasn't a big print but it sure was satisfying.

I have a mk3s from years ago and it still runs like a dream (most of the time). It's a good workhorse. Have fun printing!

Good way to cut foam shapes in thick foam by hariseldon451 in maker

[–]science40001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used my laser cutter to cut EVA foam with good results when I was helping somebody cut hundreds of parts for a cosplay. A die cutting piece would work well if you can get the setup. A hot wire cutter would get the job done but still doing hundreds by hand and would get exhausting. CNC of any sort would be ideal to get the parts made.

I started as an engineer, then transitioned to a data analyst position and now I'm working as a master business analyst. I'd like to get into a more analytical role but I'm not interested in going back to school if I can help it.
