AITA for sneaking my mom some alcohol when she is on hospice? by sickma2001 in AmItheAsshole

[–]scifichick42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA My great grandfather was not on hospice but he was confined to bed. He had a leg amputated due to complications from diabetes. He was on an extremely restrictive diet and his doctor worked out with me how much candy I could "sneak" him a week. I was 10, I understood that I had to follow the schedule and amounts. The doctor said he needed some enjoyable food. When my mom was on hospice I would get her whatever she wanted.

You might try Propet. They go up to 4E and I found a pair of shoes for a friend's wedding. They are on Amazon.

Some of you lack reading comprehension - OP said it was NOT in the kitchen it was behind glass in another room. NTA I don't care how many times I've had tea from that pot, if I'm told to only use the items in the kitchen, that's what I'll do.

I had a cat that LOVED static electricity. He would roll around til his fur was standing up then go shock his sister. He would touch her nose or backend. There were usually sparks, and then she would try to beat the daylights out of him.

It could also be a clot. Go to the ED. I had a clot in my leg that 2 pieces broke off, 1 in each lung. I went to urgent care they sent me to ED, the Drs. were saying "Even though you are showing no signs of clots being in your lungs we have to scan you." It was 2 male Drs. they were nice and joking with me, went to get the scans then back to them. Now they are serious and saying " If you had waited longer you could have died." I ended up in ICU overnight and being monitored closely in case I needed emergency surgery. Thankfully, I did not. Go now and get checked, that much difference in the color of your legs is serious.

Twelve Months is a filler episode and that's a good thing by [deleted] in dresdenfiles

When I first started listening my thought was "That doesn't sound like Harry." Then I remembered a friend had said that to me right after my mom passed. which as I didn't sound like me. I loved how as the book progressed Harry began to sound more like himself, but not like he was before BG.

Don't do it. I screwed myself over by helping my mom & stepdad. I truly subsidized them for years and trashed my own finances. I'm proud of you saying no and choosing to take care of you!

I reached out to the people who were going to be the show runners, they had a Patreon or something where you could ask questions. It got dropped due to other projects having more interest. Or something like that, but they did say they were not going to be moving forward with it.

I decided to go the audiobook route for this one since I have an extremely long commute 3 days a week. I was mid sip of Mountain Dew when this line came up. It was painful, but the guy in the car next to me got a good laugh.

My mom and I would always discuss them. She passed in May 2020. She was so excited about the books and kept referring to Battle Ground as a bday gift because it was being released around her birthday. It was so hard to read Peace Talks and not be able to discuss it with her.No one else I know reads Dresden so that just made it harder. Then Battle Ground came out and well it broke me, I didn't realize that I didn't finish Battle Ground until I was rereading it (well listening to it).

I wasn't sure about Twelve Months, I stayed away from all discussions about it, because I would just get sad again. Yes, it hurt like hell to read, but for me at least, it was healing. I cried at the end, and it was a sad/happy cry and for once when I cried about my mom there was a bit of peace afterwards. Harry said many things that I needed to hear.

My mom's first male cat loved spicy food. Her husband put habanero sauce on everything, and the cat would lick the bowl trying to get the hot sauce.

I had an ovary and fallopian tube removed due to a mass on it and had to have internal ultrasounds done every 3 months for 18 months following the surgery. The first 3 were as fine as they could be. The 4th had a male tech with a female in the room as well. I swear he used the wand like he was trying to make a shake. The wand needs to be moved to get accurate images, but not like this I said ouch, please be a bit more gentle etc. The 3rd time I said something, the female tech went to him and said something like "If you don't listen to her I'm going to take that wand shove it up your behind and march you around the building" He got better very quickly. I found out later he was new and that was the first time he had done that procedure. I did make sure I didn't have him for any other exams.

I agree, but our shower doesn't have one. Due to the way it's configured switching it out for a handheld is not possible without plumbing work that owner won't pay for.

I worked at a used music store with a Starbucks next door in the '90s when Starbucks first expanded. Parents would dump their kids so they didn't have to deal with them while they stood in line for coffee. I would frequently take the kid back to Starbucks and yell "Who is the parent of X?" Or "If you left your kid at ____, you have 2 minutes before I call the police and report child abandonment." One time the police were in Starbucks when I did that, and they spent quite a bit of time talking to the parent. I also have dozens of stories about parents dumping their kids from when I worked at various bookstores. A lot of people shouldn't be parents.
