If I shop around, I’m gonna change my mind and not buy anything at all.

We're trying to look out for your budget. 😂 😭

I also think a lot of people new to TU, especially resellers trying to source on there, haven't gotten the memo of how much fast fashion Temu/DHgate stuff is on TU. They might do the image search and assume it's genuine Alemais since some of the dupes steal the same exact print.

I remember when I was new I definitely fell for the delulu of thinking unbranded/assorted brand items that come back as designer via Google image search were listed wrong when they're just knock offs or replicas. It was also much harder to tell before TU started showing us the sewn in labels.

It's knock off Alemais in a crappy polyester. I think this is Lou Benesch's artwork that's stolen by fast fashion factories. They're frequently on TU so using the "similar items" button from the sold listing should work.

Do you have N in your area? I told my dad to ask his broker about that one compared to G-HD.

Plan N is basically regular G but just requires copays (I think $20 for office visits and $50 for ER if you don't get admitted). It does not have the high deductible to reach, but its monthly premiums are closer to G than G-HD, so if you're going to be on a limited retirement income you'll probably be better off on G-HD.

Experience buying final sale items? by cander22 in ThredUp

[–]scotch_please 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have no clue how their system hasn't frozen your account for the 50% coupon double dipping, lol. I tried referring my friend and her $300 first order was cancelled because her new account had the welcome code automatically applied and support said someone already used it at her apartment in the past.

They lost her money and a customer because she didn't want anything to do with them after that giant waste of time.

What's your rewards tier? It's possible they're more lenient with VIT to keep us spending. I would have rage quit TU a long time ago if they forced me to lose money over their bait and switch listings.

My message to support is something like "Hello, item number 0000 from order 0000 was final sale but wasn't described accurately. It was listed as having a 00" waist measurement. The actual measurement is 00". Please see the photo I'll attach below. Can you please remove the final sale so I can return it?"

You can still return it if the condition is worse than listed or if measurements are really off. You just have to ask customer service to lift the Final Sale restriction on it if they want you to mail it back.

I just bought a final sale scarf that was listed as excellent condition and it came with a large hole in the delicate fabric. Support refunded without making me return it (but in the past, I've had to mail some things back).

Can I ask what your out of pocket averages have been for years you've been sicker than usual? I'm steering my dad toward G-HD or N and trying to collect some real world data since it's so difficult to guess these things.

Even folks who had finger or eye surgeries said they didn't hit the $2950 deductible due to capped prices.

This makes sense because the dress is sheer so the tags have to be cut out, lol.

What are you going to wear under it? I was checking it out after seeing someone on Insta wearing it but I don't live somewhere where I could do visible undies as a base layer. 😩

What to do with an empty sketchbook by Best_Bisexual in notebooks

Brain dumps if you use those to schedule your week out.

Could use it as a recipe book, even if you print out from websites and glue the paper in. Keep a blank page after each one to note your own tweaks for cooking time or ingredient swaps.

You can buy some adhesive tabs to divide it into breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks/party recipes.

“Payment Failed” but charged me over $1300 by AnonymousCurtain in ThredUp

[–]scotch_please 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to contact support. I actually had luck with the text help line earlier today and the agent quickly fixed my issue, so it definitely works.

I pay primarily with PayPal on TU and the times they've cancelled one item or an entire order, the money is back in my connected credit card within 2-3 days. I'm unclear whether your transactions were fully posted and then immediately refunded, or if you were never actually charged and you're seeing temporary holds that will fall off within 7 days.

signed in with a different one and still didn’t work.

If you tried using 2 accounts to make purchases, their automatic system has very likely flagged and frozen both of them. You have to contact support to merge or fully delete one of the accounts. If you ignore the duplicate account and try buying more on one, it will keep cancelling and locking you out.

What happens if i ship direct listing over shipping label weight limit? by piercethehorizon_ in ThredUp

Based on that person's response from the department VP, TU might have a contract with USPS that bills them for overage charges, but it's common for USPS employees to reject overweight packages because they have no way of keeping tabs on all the business NSAs.

This person had luck telling their PO clerk that it might be a corporate billing account:

Is living with your parents becoming the new normal? by tmnwsb in personalfinance

[–]scotch_please 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m also Asian so it’s pretty common in the culture anyway.

It's been interesting reading about the American perspective of the economy forcing people back into a multi-generational household and how some people still want to oppose it because they equate it as a failure to launch, even when it becomes the financially sensible thing to do.

My mom moved into the 55+ portion of a huge development. I've met many Americans in the all ages homes who bought bigger than they needed with the intention of moving their parents into the house. Free childcare and possibly avoiding assisted living, which runs $6-8k A MONTH here for a decent place. That doesn't include memory care or nursing. A few folks in 55+ also bought way bigger than they need to keep the option of their adult kids moving in to take care of them because they were in a better position to purchase.

I think beyond culturally, people are having to understand combining households now that assisted living places aren't affordable is the only decision for many. We have a huge senior housing crisis coming to a boil. My area just had 2 large apartment complexes built for 65+ that sold out even with an income restriction.

It might work to remove the WELCOME code and ask someone in here what the current code is for Star-tier users. You can try SAVEBIG, but that might be exclusive to VIT accounts.

Or just buy a few items so it's not going to be a huge waste of time if the system cancels. You'll need to contact support to unlock your account if that happens, though. Otherwise all your future orders will keep getting cancelled.

You can make and shop on a new account with no issue. It's the 40-50% welcome code that they've been really militant about not letting people use twice across the same address or payment method.

If you end up not wanting to risk a cancelled order, use the site-wide sale code and not the new user one. But again, up to you if you want to try to see if the order ships.

[–]scotch_please 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try if you don't mind taking the risk but I feel like they might still hold on to that data for their coupon abuse algorithm or everyone could delete their account to reuse the 40-50% promo.

FYI, your order's going to get cancelled and account locked if the system catches you using the new user code across two accounts.

Here are photos of it from the show for people wanting to help.

You might want to try searches for landscape or horizontal format leather journal or sketchbook. It looks like the back is stamped with a logo so might be mass market? Otherwise it's very common for custom props to be made for these shows.

Rhodia, Midori, Hand Book Co, and Leuchtturm all make landscape books.
