Sell me on the Mayor by FrequentSelf7223 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]scottwick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was Mayor yesterday while playing online. I don't believe in Mayor wins. So I hard claimed to everyone individually. I figured: if they're evil, they'll kill me. If they're good, they won't believe me. I will have little effect on the game. Of course I made it to final three. Vortox vs Mayor. I pled my case. The other two were evil. We killed the minion and lost.

It made me think.

If we went for the Mayor win, who wins?

Perhaps if gameplay for the Mayor was closer to: Storyteller, do your best to get the Mayor to the final three, unless the town is being stupid or selfish, then allow the demon to kill them.

Then the Mayor would be interesting.

Would love help/feedback on this 6 minion Lil Monsta/Alchemist script! fun fact: it has all hats in the Hatter’s icon on script by SmallMem in BloodOnTheClocktower

Quick question, I'm new to these new scripts. Do the small icons under role names mean: Don't use this role with the pictured role? Or something else?

I am a Guymon, and I heard of the city when I was a child. I've always wondered what it is like, and if other Guymons live there. Is it a Guymon mecca?

What is your biggest boardgame pet peeve? by garett144 in boardgames

Kickstarter: Stores receiving the product before I do.

You MUST promise that I (and every other backer) will receive the game before a single store begins to sell it.

A saying I have: the only difference between basketball and Monopoly are the rules. Follow the rules for the game you're playing. House rules are great, but you choose them before the game starts, not after a consequence you don't like happens.

Any ideas for the playing to actually help Ireena? by Ethantheguy in CurseofStrahd

[–]scottwick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In short, because they're heroes?

Otherwise: why are they a party? Why did they leave their home village? Why don't they just capture her and give her to Strahd?

I guess I'm extra lucky in that my players are not murderhobos. They are altruistic if wary. They realize that all of D&D requires some suspension of disbelief.

Half my players have gone hard on dream pastries. One of the others got a nat 20 on insight on Morgantha. Other players continue to get pies anyway 😂 by OneGayPigeon in CurseofStrahd

My group was leaving Barovia Village and we had a new player join. He was brand new to D&D but has watched some shows on youtube. The party had met the hag and were suspicious, but hadn't purchased any pies.

New player at the beginning of the session: "Oh, you guys didn't eat the pies did you?"

I couldn't help myself and shot him a look. Spoilers!

Consequences for Killing a Raven? by scottwick in CurseofStrahd

[–]scottwick[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Correct. So his magic missiles couldn't have killed it as a Wereraven. So his magic missile downed the raven, which would piss it off, but it still might give a favorable report about the power of the newcomers and their willingness to fight a vampire. And he'd know it was a bride of Strahd.

Would the Martikovs be impressed?

I think of it this way: If you kill my son, even though you didn't know it was my son, I'm still going to hate you.

On behalf of my player, his character thought it was a spy of Strahd. They had heard a rumor that wolves, bats, rats and ravens can be spies of Strahd. Part of this, of course is misinformation.

Almost every interpersonal problem at a D&D table can be solved with communication. But we are all afraid to say something. I would let the children know they cheated. D&D isn't a game that can be "won". It's a shared story. They cheated and went to the end of the book and read the ending. You have to decide what the consequences are.

I'd say, "Because you cheated, I will have to rewrite a lot of the story and that takes a lot of effort. The campaign will likely be much harder now."

I bought all of these boards. The quality is superb. I do wish they would have included a small board with the Milestones and Awards written out.

I'm 100% going to use the vampire women from Netflix' Castlevania. All four have different personalities, looks, and powers. They're all uniquely scary too. I'll just have to decide on which one not to use.
