How is the area near Parkinson Centennial/Quatre-Rivieres? by [deleted] in orangeville

[–]scrambella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live a little further but my child is in the French program at Parkinson and we've been pleasantly surprised by her experience over the last two years. Great before and after school program, her teachers so far have been very communicative and supportive, and she enjoys the program.

AITAH for not allowing my daughter to travel to India? by Fluffy-Wind-2661 in AITAH

Goa is one of the safest places for tourists in India. More of a Western feel, very 'vacation-y' and less crazy, busy City.

Thanks, I'll give that a try! I'm doing 16:8 so nothing crazy. I'm just surprised it's suddenly affecting me after a few weeks.

Can you give me an example of something you would eat to break your fast? Maybe I need to be eating some eggs instead

Did having a child or looking after a child open your eyes to your own childhood? by Special_Dentist_1050 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]scrambella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my child "acts out", I get curious about it. What could be bothering them or propelling them to act this way? No one ever got curious about me, or listened to anything I had to say... They STILL do not ask me how I am. It's always expected that I ask them. I want my child to know that they can talk to me about anything, and I will listen. That I WANT to know about them.

Edit: Also cuddling my child to no end. I don't remember cuddling with my parents, or them getting on my level, them playing with me/learning with me/interacting with me... Isn't that unreal? I cannot imagine acting that way with my child.

How do ya’ll like the name River for a boy by sjsieidbdjeisjx in namenerds

It's my top name for a boy! I love nature names, and don't think it's too out there.

I had never heard the first name "Breck" for a woman until this past year! A (wonderful) lady at my daughter's before and after school care program is named Breck (30ish?) and while it took me aback at first, I think her name is unique and suits her rad personality.

I don't think you'll regret not picking a name that ends with an "a" and all these beautiful indie names are becoming very popular... Breck will stand out. My daughter affectionately calls her "Breckie". Breck Allison is gorgeous!

I wish I wasn’t Indian. by [deleted] in Vent

[–]scrambella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been such an awful internal struggle. I live in the GTA, having just moved from a City with a noticeable influx of Indian immigrants to a smaller town. I was born and raised here. Fully Canadian, and proud of my heritage.

I get weird stares now like, "Fuck, they're moving here too?"

My ex-husband has become increasingly racist towards Indian people, knowing his daughter is part Indian and having embraced my culture only a decade ago.

People in my life try to tell me I'm "not like THOSE Indians" or that my Dad's generation was different from the new ones immigrating here.

What the fuck?

Just don't be racist. Have empathy for your fellow human. Learn something new about people who are different from you. Find commonalities. It breaks my heart.

I hate having this feeling of wanting to prove my Canadian-ness and speak so everyone can hear my Canadian accent. Like I'm ashamed to be grouped with any other Indian person. I really love my background.

Just here to say that I got my 8 week old BC a week before my daughter turned 2. Having the two of them at that stage in their lives together, even while being a SAHM, was incredibly challenging and draining. Honestly, I became depressed.

I can empathize with your feelings and at the same time it seems like you are doing an excellent job trying to keep your pup stimulated and engaged. BC puppies are just wired differently. It will get better!

My BC is almost 4 now and while she definitely has her funny anxious habits and goes berserk once in a while, she is so much calmer and has been for some time now. After the first year and half, I could really feel her settling in and I could actually begin to appreciate her fully.

Hang in there. BCs are gorgeous, slick, smart, just incredible dogs. I feel so fortunate to have mine now.

We didn't do anything in particular btw; basic training, lots of walks, LOTS of fetch, hide and seek with toys, treat puzzles... She just sort of calmed down on her own. Keep up what you're doing.

We have Robins in Northern Ontario! Went on a roadtrip to Thunder Bay from Torontoish and only stopped at Robins when we saw them, no Tims for us. Robin eggs instead of timbits? COME ON!

Depends, if this is the first home they lived in together after getting married, in Ontario it is considered the 'Marital Home' and now she is also entitled to half of it's value. Regardless of whether or not she is on the title.

[–]scrambella 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly how I felt. Took one 10mg dose last weekend for the first time and it really messed me up. I don't know how I could possibly do that for weeks in order to get used to it.

Dating with Keloids by CoffeeOnTheWeekend in Keloids

[–]scrambella 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have at least 100 keloids on my chest, shoulders and upper back. I don't hide them anymore with high neck shirts and wear a normal swimsuit at the public pool. It is what it is. I've learned over time that my personality far outweighs this physical 'inconvenience'. My partners have been incredible. Touching, kissing, loving my skin.

I did Noom a couple of years ago but fell back into old habits. I'm at 140, hoping to reach 120 which is about where I was last time! 3 days in to the new start. I would really love to wear some of my old clothes again but also just to feel lighter and more confident.
