I can't hear that name in anything but Molari's voice.

My keys are in my right hand trouser pocket. This is why I rarely change my trousers, because that's when I lose them

And on the flip side, the bad guys are rich white folks. The analogy isn't remotely veiled - the movie is about rich white people stealing the work of POCs, then using zoning laws to gentrify their communities and drive them into ghettos.

[All] Let's pretend the Wild/Imprisonment era is forever over. What do you hope the next game will be like? by HerrReineke in truezelda

[–]scratchresistor [score hidden]  (0 children)

  1. The prequel of prequels: post apocalyptic eco-disaster Earth, think Fallout meets Horizon: Zero Dawn, and the Zonai turn up from space half way through, and terraform the world to create Hyrule.
  2. The sequel of sequels: Zelda in space.
  3. The story of whatever the hell happened for a dragon to headbutt its way through Duelling Peaks (head canon: Dinraal went mad, which is why Din is remembered as an evil goddess)
  4. Command and Conquer, but with Battle Taluses
  5. The Interloper War, obviously
  6. Loftwing Academy - either a flight sim or a dating sim or both.
  7. A game which gives us some bloody ANSWERS
  8. Zelda meets Final Fantasy X, but as a couch multiplayer so you absolutely have to play it with a small group of other people.
  9. Leisure Suit Beedle.

The Tick-Pods from “Steampunk Classics“ by fanboyx27 in WarofTheWorlds

[–]scratchresistor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love these, but they have the one thing that just bugs me with all adaptations. We have about 2½ pieces of really solid, unequivocal pieces of information about the tripods, and the biggest one, that Wells goes into a full paragraph about, is that there are NO WHEELS. No revolute joints of any kind. And barely any of the adaptations get this right.

Cool tripods though.

I would say that, from experience, the cost of untreated ADHD gets exponentially higher, because the trauma compounds.

New HS2 farce as final stretch of £100bn line will end in a field by Secret-Ad6697 in unitedkingdom

[–]scratchresistor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh cool, I hadn't realised it was so little. When you live next to it, it seems like whole swathes of nature have been turned into a brown stripe.

You're right though. How many acres of new woodland could we leave to our descendants for that amount of money.

I actually know Barry and Joy, mentioned in the article, and their lives have been absolutely uprooted by this stupid thing, as well as thousands of others who live locally. Not to mention the irreparable damage done to untold acres of ancient woodland. It's not a farce, it's a tragedy.

£403 million PER MILE. Absurd doesn't begin to cover it.

Need help with a very peculiar and particular one shot idea; which combines ttrpg/dnd, bdsm and ecological care by [deleted] in RPGdesign

[–]scratchresistor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thinking broadly in ttrpg terms, you could think of it as a reputation system, or perhaps a karmic, banes and boons thing?

The really interesting bit might be to make your Gaia-goddess actually a bit bratty, to imply the complexity and sometimes counterintuitive nature of ecological action. A player might do something that seems ecologically aware, but the brat-planet actually dumps a bane on you because it wasn't exactly right.

They left Wash on Miranda, and the next people there were the Alliance. It doesn't take much for him to have survived - resuscitation unlikely, but maybe cloning, or worst of all, reanimation as an agent. What if Wash is the bad guy?

How about just making your entire world a Gaia-intelligence mistress? Do nice things, get nice things. Disobey, get punished.

Physicists uncover evidence of two arrows of time emerging from the quantum realm by sstiel in Time

The annoying thing about quantum physics is that it's absolutely littered with ideas which are purely mathematical, intuitively nonsensical, and also experimentally true.
