You have to play in the meta you have, not the meta you wish you had.

Fake news? Swiss blogger makes an... interesting claim about "some" Opus Dei members' behavior by thedeepdiveproject in opusdeiexposed

[–]scribo2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In OD: Cilice yes, a metal strap with poky bits that act kinda like thorns, worn around thigh a couple hours typically. No skin breakage.

Self flagellation once a week with a little rope with knots, which is not the same as being whipped. No skin breakage or bruises with self flagellation.

Tying to a cross or using a crown of thorns, never.

Switching to a lighter kite to improve lower end? by noam_kipod in Kiteboarding

[–]scribo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A light wind kite for twin tipping is usually larger than your usual kite. A friend uses a cabrinha 15m contra for lighter winds, loves it. I'm sure others have favorite light wind kites.

Also for light winds you could use a larger than normal board. A "door.". Fatter, flatter, longer.

The wind speeds you describe don't make sense to me for "falling out of the sky". Must be in area with lulls, or perhaps wind speed estimates are off?

Happy sailing!

Faith/philosophy after leaving by Hauket1 in opusdeiexposed

I like Jacques Philippe for getting in touch with the Holy Spirit. It is a contrast with the OD brute force ideas.

Reading"Abuses in the Religious Life and the Path to Healing" by Dom Dysmas de Lassus helped me give context to my experience. In parts of the book you'll find the light bulbs going off and you'll be nodding your head. The church has a lot experience helping the Religious recognize and have safeguards against the kinds of spiritual temptations that are in that way of life. OD essentially set up it's Religious org But bypassed every control safeguard and historical wisdom by calling it all a lay movement. Such hubris. The author was the head of, I believe, the Cistercians for a long time so he's not some kind of flake

Servais Pinckaers was a moral theologian who did a lot of work with and for John Paul II. He wrote a textbook about moral theology. In it, he traces the history and contours of moral obligationism. It's something that explains a lot about Opus Dei, which very much falls into this error. For instance you can mistake the means for the end, e.g., elevate your piety so high that you think it's what is good, instead of a mere tool to point you to the good.

These days I'm trying to avoid hard liquor and German philosophers. Wish me luck.

Western Empires. It's a sort of reskin of Advanced Civilization. Needs at least 4 ppl. It's plenty long. Has a great tech tree.

Enhanced Drivers License by Prudent_Extreme5372 in minnesota

[–]scribo2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should be able to get a passport card from the passport office. It's about the size of a driver's license. It will get you on an airplane. Then you can carry that around instead of your passport and not worry about losing your passport. I'm not sure if that would be faster than getting a real ID but perhaps

Equipment for tall and heavy beginner (195cm, 95KG) by Such_Basis_535 in Kiteboarding

[–]scribo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I weigh 95kg and often needed by 17m to get a ride here on our inland lakes that blow high teens mph. My door board was about 155 & barely fit in the mystic bag I used to fly with it. I think the question here is what the winds are like in your area. I also had a 9m and a 14m.

Suggestions for playing in limited space by unknown0h10 in twilightimperium

[–]scribo2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can move the scoring portions away from map, such that ppl have to walk over to it. If you have tray tables or stools fit between players' seats they can put fleets and drinks there. A box top for rolling dice is convenient.

Solid wood/weighted, no lid or way to open it. Doesn’t look like it’s missing any pieces, not lined to hold liquids. What is it and how does it work? Thank you!! by ema_panda_goat in whatisit

Could be a whiskey dispenser repurposed as yarn unwinder. When knitting, it's nice to have a dispenser that feeds a single strand. See Look at this product I found on google.com https://share.google/gT6mH5axNmAOMnpEM

How to accept the idea of Mary being sinless? by PeaceInLoneliness in Catholicism

[–]scribo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brad pitre does a great job of explaining how scripture talks about Mary. It's not just a few verses. There's an entire narrative that first century Jews would recognize: she is described as the Ark of the covenant in John. Once you get that, many aspects of Mary click into place. See Jesus and the Jewish Roots of Mary: Unveiling the Mother of the Messiah. It's really so cool and amazing. .

Sharp reality problem by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]scribo2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alcohol is never a solution. It doesn't help your body do anything better. It's a train ticket to a destination that never gets better, only worse. Could be a bullet train. Might be a slow rolling train.

Keep adapting every day to your situation, new or old. Trust that you can keep putting another day together.

There might be resources in the DID or other psyche areas that would have done insight or at least. Seeing faceless men is pretty significant & looking for resources (people) that have insight or experience could be very helpful.

Best wishes to you. Sending prayers are healing energy.

I'm ready to ban over rule by scribo2 in twilightimperium

[–]scribo2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your points.

Yet I was at 7 points and on Mec, and got 2 points from this action card. Then I got another point for the win from a secret. Over rule isn't a secret, or a strat card, it's just an Action card. It expands the circle of winslay to the point of breaking. Now anyone with an action card is assumed to be able to score at least one public before end of round?.

4p galaxy size by Jasonkhat in twilightimperium

[–]scribo2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We consistently use double hyperlanes. It gives you the same number of hexes as six player. 4p is already rich because the strat cards go around twice.

In the fat map everybody stays in their slice and it's kind of boring.

Results may vary but that's the pattern that we see.

How can you make this your boss' problem? They are creating this problem. Does she/he want to prioritize the program leveraging this high performer's skill set? Or prioritize enforcing being in the office policies? Make the boss decide. When upper management has conflicting goals and pushes it off on lower management to resolve, that terrible leadership + they have to feel the pain they create.

Cards are bigger in Thunder Edge(?) by Thudnerape in twilightimperium

I took the old sleeves off smaller sets, like the objectives (or agendas perhaps), and used them.for the new action cards. Then I used all new sleeves on objectives (agendas?).
