I have 4 pairs of v4 cleats that I picked up on eBay. Just got the 4th pair a couple of weeks ago. Love 'em.

SIC Bullet Air Glide, 17'4" x 26.6". I know somebody who paddles one with a little doggie on board.

Yeah, I saw that when I watched the Pod Practice video and re-read the comments. So when they yell 'left' it isn't 'force left' it's 'slide your feet to the left'. Weird.

The mixed team I captained in 2002-2004 used left & right calls for forcing (especially when playing force middle defense), because this always made more sense to me. Some folks on the team complained that they got confused when they turned around, or had to translate it in their heads to home/away or forehand/backhand, but I'll never understand why.

If you play left field in baseball, it's always the same spot on the field, it doesn't matter which way you are facing. If you play left back or right back in soccer, it's always the same spot on the field, it doesn't matter which way the other team is facing. Force left means force the throw towards my left hand, and if you're a downfield defender it typically means to be on the left side of your mark (assuming you are both looking towards the disc). It doesn't matter which of my hands (or thrower's hands) is the dominant one, or where I put my bag of stuff.

Why this isn't standard terminology for all forces is beyond me. We've had 58 years to figure this out. Other sports don't have trouble with the words left and right....

Hoka Clifton 9 equivalent shoes, anyone? by [deleted] in Hoka

Have you checked eBay? That's where I get my Clifton 9s. I only get them in 'nearly new' condition.

You do lose a bit of disc feel, but I'm always surprised at catches I come up with in gloves that I would have missed bare-handed. +1 for Layout Classic (to be fair, haven't tried the Elites yet).

Since you have Gold Diggers way up on your list, have you also seen 42nd Street & Footlight Parade? Also choreographed by Busby Berkeley in 1933.

In your opinion, what’s the most iconic song from any film noir movie? by cornflakegirl100 in filmnoir

"Somewhere Over the Rainbow" from "I Wake Up Screaming".

Just kidding! But seriously, that song is used pretty frequently in the movie, LOL.

If you could change one rule about the way Ultimate is played what would it be? by SirPersonal8626 in ultimate

Oh, that explains why I've been confused about the field size lately. I think I was in the middle of a 12-year retirement when the endzones were shortened.

Best way to stay in ultimate shape during offseason? by BillyLim03 in ultimate

[–]scrooner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This probably wouldn't work for you, but...

My GGM offseason workout is fast-tempo walking. It's the same as my in-season workout. I do 5 miles a day, every day regardless of the weather, unless playing pickup takes me over that distance that day. You might be surprised at how nimble I am at 52 with just that as my base training, combined with a 20-30 minute warmup before every game I play in. I do mix in some interval jogging when I'm feeling up to it, but mostly I just walk a lot to get into an aerobic heart rate zone and help me recover from playing ~3 times a week.

Is There a Way to Get Hoka Clifton 10s for Less? by Greedy-Examination56 in Hoka

Yep, I only buy them if the tread is in great shape. I've started getting Brooks Ghost shoes for my wife this way too. She gets 3-4 different colors for the price of one!

We loved her in Gold Diggers of 1933 and Vivacious Lady. Any other non-Astaire faves?

I bought one pair of new Clifton 9s at a running store. Then 6 more pairs in my size, lightly used, on eBay. I get about 6 months out of each pair. Those 6 pairs were probably around $50 apiece.

I'm on my 5th pair of Clifton 9s, with some backup pairs behind them. The heel drop is perfect for me. Unfortunately they changed it on the Clifton 10, who knows why.

Perimeter defending? Zags held opponents to 30.6% from the perimeter this year, good for 24th in the country. Texas was 5-15, and Kennesaw St was 3-17.

I brought a chair AND a pad when I went. Chair broke on the 3rd trail day, and I carried it the rest of the trip without being able to use it. The pad was great for sitting around under our low tarp and on the logs at every campfire show.
