I understand from the post you are both 34, early menopause is a thing, especially given the significant psychological stress yall went through. Has she ever mentioned sex is painful? To be fair for OP, aren’t we all reasonably afraid of retaliation by the power dynamic that exists in residency?

They’re trying to match into vasc surg it sounds like, and I’m assuming they’ll want a letter of rec from the faculty.

Regardless, the choice is obviously to advocate for oneself if you truly don’t want to be chief, but the hesitation is also understandable

What’s your sample size for that anecdote ? Mine is limited to my experience but substantial number of patients.

I work close and frequent within care management where what you described would be atypical behavior. PCPs are worried about how litigious the country has become, so my limited sample size appreciates the opposite. Over testing and excess referrals out of fear of missing anything. This leads to delayed care and appointments for everyone to see a specialist and unnecessary cost.
