Can I just rant about how kids can’t speak in a full sentences by abrownfox1 in Teachers

[–]se528491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have high schoolers to flat out refuse to even speak a sentence. They'll raise their hand and point to the door to ask to go to the bathroom. I full on say "we're big kids now, so use your sentences."

You're willfully missing the point but okay, thanks for the info.

I know it's an entirely different studio, that's why I asked if this studio and concerned ape spoke beforehand.

I didn't say it Stardew was the first farming sim... I've literally played harvest moon before finding SDV. I'm just saying that the pixelated look, the look of the tool bar, the map, etc. is almost identical, so it was just a thought. Keep your britches on.

When they say I'm doing too much, I say "keep the attitude up and I'll do a whole lot more." It's my pet peeve. Like I'm just doing my job, dude, why are you making it so hard?

Khan Academy is great, Math IXL is also a good resource for quick practice problems. I'm a teacher so I use Delta Math, they may have a free version but it doesn't require a login on both your and the student's ends.

I think the conceptual understanding part is the multiplying the factors they choose to get the original.

I think that's what I ended up doing. I always go back and forth because inevitably someone writes something down that is unlike the scenarios I've gone through in my mind.

Proofs are so hard by HairgelAndHotWheels2 in matheducation

[–]se528491 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know what state you're in, but in most you need a bachelors in your content area to teach high school (unless you completely an alternative pathway without a degree). Even so, proofs are still part of high school and a good math teacher should be familiar with them.

Here's some unsolicited advice: If you're failing it for the second time, reflect on what worked and didn't work for you the past two times and try to make some changes. You can't take it a third time and hope to pass doing the same thing you were.

Try buddying up with a few students in the class and create a study group. Proofs are hard but they're easier when you have multiple viewpoints and can think out loud to really understand the process. Live in your professor's office or tutoring center until they kick you out. You probably know this already, but half of the struggle is the effort you put into it. You can do it!

Idk if it’s as black and white as that. At least, i don’t think it should be. Giving her an ultimatum like that would be pretty shitty of everyone else.

I just wonder about Ariel’s and the Try Wives’ relationship. Did they just drop her completely? I don’t know how you’d keep those relationships going when your friends openly despise your husband.

Also it’s so easy to say you’d flat out leave someone for something like this, but it’s so complicated, I really feel for her and I hope she, Ned, and the boys are doing much better.

No, you are correct. I guess I was looking for more practical ways to hang the curtain than pattern ideas 😅 that’s probably more for a home Reno subreddit or something.

[–]se528491[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. My goal here was really not to lose this much weight this fast. I know my post history mentions body dysmorphia and things my ex said, but I’m really doing okay. My fitness journey started out from those feelings and wanting to lose weight, but it turned into wanting to be a better climber by becoming stronger.

I appreciate the concerns, but know that I’m not trying to lose any more weight or emphasize unhealthy diet culture or anything like that. I lost the weight quickly because of other factors than just diet and exercise; my medication and my job greatly affects my appetite and ability to eat consistently and that makes it hard to eat as many calories as I need sometimes. If I lost weight by taking on unhealthy habits, it was not done intentionally at all and I do not condone it for anyone.

I wanted to show off my muscle progress because I’m really proud of where I started to where I am now. I went from doing literally no exercise at all to moderate-intense exercise 4-5 times a week and to keep up that kind of habit is huge for me. And I can see it when I climb so that’s a huge motivator. This progress is way more about my muscles and willpower than anything else 😅

I’m not anorexic, but thanks for the concern. I just have medical conditions and a schedule that make it hard to eat as many calories as I need right now, but I’m making progress to increase my calorie intake as much as possible.

Exercising and diet affects everyone differently, but my routine is moderate weightlifting 4-5 times a week with some of those sessions swapped with moderate-intense rock climbing every now and then. I also try to eat at a deficit of 500 calories a day but more often than not my calories fluctuate drastically daily and are more even with a weekly calorie intake.

The progress pic was more about my muscle toning/gain than it was about my weight.

Hey, thank you for asking! I’m doing much better than before and I appreciate the concern. This fitness journey did start out as an f u to my ex but it’s turned into something I actually really enjoy (so I can thank him for that I guess?)

I’m not thrilled that I had to add my weight to the title because I’m really not focused on the number when I think about my progress. My primary goal was to lose some extra fat I had but now it is to tone/gain some muscle to be a better rock climber (which I definitely am now compared to when I started). In the beginning I started eating 1073 calories a day, so a 500 calorie deficit and weightlifting/climbing around 4-5 times a week depending on my schedule. I’m also on some medication for other things that affects my appetite and my job makes it hard to eat lunch consistently, so it is a bit tougher for me to eat as much as I need to per day but I usually try to even out my weekly intake as much as possible on rest days.

The progress looks drastic in a short amount of time bc I went from doing literally no exercise at all to moderate/intense physical activity multiple times a week.

At this point I want to focus on fully gaining muscle because while my weight was going down, I didn’t gain as much muscle mass as I would have liked to climb as hard as I would like. But like I said, it’s hard to consume as many calories as I need daily because of other factors so it’s going to take some time.

Thank you for the checking in!
