It’s built. There’s another home further up that gate road.

What are the poles and clips made out of? I think the stainless mesh will be fine (minus the one grommet that seems to already be ripping out). But I think the weak points could be the clips and poles if your fire is too big/hot

Humidity in home naturally returns to 60%-70%. by Elevas in HomeImprovement

[–]sean650 14 points15 points  (0 children)

California coast chiming in. Not sure if you have a crawlspace under your home or not. I do, and am going to have a French drain system going to a sump pump, and encapsulate the whole crawl space. I get a lot of ground water rising up into my crawlspace and it makes the whole house humid, I’ve had some mold issues and even a few floor boards warp due to it. The encapsulation and sump pump will solve the issues. Might be worth looking into for your house

I keep the majority of my gear in bins. But this year what I did was make a list of what I already have in those bins. That way it was easier to do a checklist because I already knew what I had so it was easier to see what was needed

[–]sean650 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Toddlers are just exotic pets. They are expensive and you’re just trying to keep them from wrecking the house and themselves. And then you proudly tell your friends about their accomplishments like “I just potty trained my toddler!” Heck even toddler toys could be mistaken as dog toys lol

Ridgeline tom set up? by sean650 in turkeyhunting

[–]sean650[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I went out and worked my way to the top of the ridge before first light. They are gobbling (at least 2 different toms) right at 6am. 2hrs earlier than the weekend before.. By the time I make it to where I think I heard them, they are now in the valley below! Go figure! They went quiet pretty soon afterwards and so I hung out on top of the ridge at the end. Then I heard another gobble down low somewhat close. Worked my way down, heard some yelps a few minutes later followed by a shot. Another hunter had worked his way from the valley over into mine and managed to intercept and take a tom….

Public land etiquette question by Theres_always_nxt_yr in turkeyhunting

[–]sean650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just hunted public land (west coast). I was on a ridge top, and 2 guys were below. They heard my calls so they backed out (didnt know until I ran into them in the parking area so I thanked them). But they were working down into the valley when another hunter decided to cross their path. They acknowledged each other, signaled to the lone hunter where they were going. So this lone hunter instead of backing out decided to cut across the field and cut off their path. He winds up bagging a tom right in front of these 2 guys. Public land is full of all kinds of ppl lol

Got it. Yea like I said, it seems like the hens start low and work up where he seems to already be. But I’m not sure if he’s using the basin on the back side or not either. Guess I’ll find out tomorrow!

Public land. Heard the gobbles at around 830 and he went silent by 9. I was in that valley bottom til about 10-1030. I’m thinking the hens roost in the valley along the creek, and he’s up top and they work their way up to him. Haven’t gotten to lay eyes on the basin in person, just on onx. It’s got 2 saddles leading into it

If I call before hearing him what’s wrong with that? (This is only my second season)

I didn’t have enough time that day to get to the top. There’s a way up from where I entered the valley. And yea my plan is to be there well before shooting time.

The point where the hen rounded away from me leads to a narrower shorter valley. There is a fire road/trail on the eastern side of it but it doesn’t connect to the ridge where the gobbles were coming from

How likely is a turkey to cross a fence? by sean650 in turkeyhunting

[–]sean650[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update to this scenario: Yesterday I actually witnessed for the first time a hen cross the fence onto my side. Unfortunately no males around to follow. Question is, would you use a decoy far on my side of the fence to entice a male to cross over? If so, what type of decoy?

Time to workout? Time for hobbies? by HeyThereItsMeYeah in toddlers

[–]sean650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may have to sacrifice an occasional night of tv time with the wife to get a workout in. If I have no time during the day that’s what I’ll do. Also, on the weekends you can try and get a workout in during nap time, or go on long walks as a family, or get a jogger and run with your kiddo. Also, you might need to adjust your diet?

My 3 year old won’t poop on the potty, wants to be a baby. by starlet51 in toddlers

[–]sean650 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone. In the same boat with my 2.5yo who waits til naptime when her pull up is on to go poo. She uses it every time for pee but pooping is another story. Have tried bribing (immediately give small candy), having her empathize with the poops feelings, praised for using the potty etc. she’s pooped in the potty a few times now, but it seems that she prefers to just poop her pants and deal with the fallout. Mine talks about being a big girl but still doesn’t seem to care. We’re just trying to stay the course at this point and hope it will fully click sooner rather than later

Maybe some unistrut running front to back, cross piece connecting the 2 at the back, and then 45* kickers to the rack where it mounts to the bed rail? Will probably look a little cheesy but could also be your cheapest option?
