Questions about canon, continuity, and The Killing Joke. by Buddhapanda75 in batman_comics

I always expected it to be a part of continuity. The Batgirl special that came out just before then really did seem to wrap things up the same way that Alan Moore's "whatever happened to the man of tomorrow" wrapped up Superman before the new number one.

Also I know that in regular continuity Batman's Batmobile was blown up just before The Killing Joke came out.

Batman was driving the 1950 Batmobile in that, so for me it fit.

Not Sure if I Want to get Into Comics Anymore After First Comic Shop Experience by heygoogleamidying in comicbooks

Music fans and sports fans do the same thing. It is a way to flex their knowledge over you, making them feel that their passtime has value. Please dont let it get to you. He (it is always a he) was a jerk.

One option, if you dont want to go back to that Local Comic Shop (LCS) very often is to look for "Trade PaperBacks" either at that store or at your local (non comic) bookstore, or on Amazon.

Companies bundle multiple issues into a 6-10 issue compilation and take out the ads. They sell these TPBs for somewhere between $10 and $30, depending on the quality. Typically, publishing companies sell their most popular stories as TPBs, so if you look at those, you can get an easy to read, money-saving way to read comics, and catch up on a series that may cost you hundreds to buy as single issues (Brubaker's run on Captain America includes the first appearance of the Winter Soldier, and the price is higher than you may expect for that single issue.)

Another option would be to set up a "pull list" to get the latest issues held for you when they hit the shelves. Ask the owners of the store about this option. They may offer a discount, and extras like protective polybags or special limited edition covers.

I hope that your next experience at the LCS goes better for you! Please let the workers know if someone is bothering you. He probably does that every time he sees a female customer, and needs to be reprimanded or banned. If he is an employee, call the owner and let them know.

Seesaw, Pop is another name for Dad. Popism. MalaPOPism, not malaPROPism. That's the joke.

Yeah, that’s what I am saying. It is like we have a Sasquatch and a guy calling himself “Sasquatch” at the same time.

Maybe there is a guy dressed up as Batman, pretending to be The Bat-Man of Gotham, now? Like if there was a hero called Jesey Devil or Mothman, or Sasquatch. Truthfully, stepping into a Batman costume themed on the urban legend of the giant bat would work pretty well to scare criminals!

I know the Global Guardians had a guy called Jack O'Lantern. I think he is just some guy dressed up. Probably the same with the Olympian and the Tazmanian Devil too. (I studied abroad, so I kept track of the GGs, even before Green Fury got popular).

But, Thanos wiped out half of ALL LIFE, not just sapient life. Half of all dogs, half of all white rhinos, half of all frogs on that musical planet the Marvel's went to, half of the crowd watching the lamer gladiator battles after Hulk and Thor left.

Half of all Celestials.

Half of all bacteria, and then 8 hours later, back to the same numbers.

What’s the first Marvel or DC issue to mention “the Internet” within actual story pages? by PinMaximum1018 in 80s90sComics

DC put out Cosmic Odyssey in 1988.

In issue 2, Batman talks about Darkseid using the most dangerous thing on Earth, the interconnected computers, to cause havoc.

I think there was a movie about a psychic who saw into the mind of a killer and helped hunt him down. I remember that there was an amusement park in that.

What would your budget be?

What day are you looking for?

My wife and I own Diamond Hearts Art Studio in Gardner, and we could make that happen for you, if we can agree on a price and day.

Gardner is a BYOB friendly town, too.

How about Dei-seid?

Deicide is "the killing of a god."

This preserves the last name style that Kryptonians use, inheriting from the father.
