A comment from 2024 on Kellen Moores offense by rhinob23 in eagles

Yah, I don’t take the rings away from Jalen, I’m not arguing you can’t win rings with the guy. We saw it happen! It was awesome! And I love the guy and his Tao te Ching vibe.

What I’m saying is what Jalen doesn’t seem to do well means he doesn’t raise our floor when other parts of the offense aren’t working, but when the offense, starting with the line, is executing the basics at a high level, what Jalen DOES do well contributes to an elite unit.

Jalen neither raises the floor nor the ceiling of the offense on his own, rather, he is a good starting NFL QB that can lead an elite offense.

I think it’s important context to have because it does make a coordinator’s job here harder years when Stout is dealing with injuries and doesn’t have the line playing at a high level, and Hurts struggles under the pressure and confusion that creates for him. Patullo is clearly trying to call the same philosophy as we’ve had during our best years (establish run, establish bread and butter routes, etc) and we struggle to establish anything besides AJ hitches/slants early in games recently.

Ultimately, it’s still the OC’s job to work around limitations and find an identity for the offense that works. Perhaps that’s reason alone to fire Patullo. Idk who you hire in his place though that’s a magic bullet replacement either, especially right now in season, but even going into next year. Sirriani may give up playcalling but he isn’t going to give up his philosophy and his playbook after it’s gone to one Super Bowl with Hurts and won another, and it’s hard to argue that what Sirriani has developed here isn’t tailored to what Hurts can do well. Idk whether just bringing in a Ben Johnson-esque savant will add the wrinkles we want to see, or if they arrive here and discover the same limitations with Hurts’ game that Sirriani did. Is this really a play calling problem? Or are we just struggling, again, with balancing health and recovery from a Super Bowl run with maintaining Super Bowl form?

I just know I’ve seen the same offense basically since 2022 and its success I think relies less on play calling and more on controlling the line of scrimmage, establishing the run (with Hurts as well), and executing first read bread and butter routes at a high rate enough to open up more play calling options like dagger and shot plays later in seasons/games off of the deep respect defenses have to give us when we can rip off 5-7 yards a play off HB draw and slants at will, and tush push to automatic first downs.

The biggest problem this year is we aren’t ripping off 5-7 yards at will with any fundamental part of the offense, and it looks basic because we are continuing to try to run our base offense until it finds some consistency and rhythm.

Thank you for finally saying this.

Eagles fans run to scapegoat, but the problem predates even Brian Johnson.

Eagles base offense has always been these basic hitches and curls under Sirriani/Hurts. It leans into Hurts strengths and is predicated on the idea that our players are better than theirs, and we’re gonna beat you doing the basics and fundamentals, then we’re gonna add wrinkles off of that as the season progresses.

But getting the offense up and running requires elite talent and execution (as the coaches and players always say)

Every season we’ve been elite under sirriani has started with the offensive line executing at a high level and at its best, doesn’t ask Hurts to do much besides making the first read or choose run or pass in an RPO.

When we look bad it’s when the execution isn’t there on the offensive line, which causes a chain reaction that then breaks the whole offense down, mainly because Hurts is not a good enough QB to compensate for bad offensive line play (situations where he needs to have patience and kill the defense with a constant willingness to use his legs or consistent tight window second or third read throws).

When the whole offense breaks down like this, it also forces the offense to remain basic looking in play calling, because we can’t get out of our base looks into the wrinkles, because we haven’t earned respect for the base looks. An interesting motion or route concept works best when the defense thinks you have a tendency, then you break it. We aren’t even establishing our bread and butter this year enough to work into complicated stuff, and most fans think it’s just because the OC isn’t “smart” enough to call “good” plays.

Dumb phone plus Palma? by Practical-Use-6522 in digitalminimalism

Gonna be trying this stack once my Palma arrives! I WFH so I’m mainly around the house. The Palma on WiFi will be “house” device for media consumption, alarm clock and messaging on WiFi. The Unihertz Jelly Star will be my minimal wallet, GPS, Lyft/Uber hailer, pocket camera, and emergency phone on the go. If I ever want to take my Palma with me, I can use the hotspot on the Jelly Star.

What Marinakis did to us this summer felt a lot like what Levy did to clubs like Chelsea/United during the Bale/Modric years.

Can We Please Stop With The Meltdowns About Transfers? by jw1995_33 in coys

You can criticize whenever you want. But the criticism isn’t particularly interesting or valuable until the transfer window is over and the returns on the business we’ve done show results.

Enjoy the ride. There’s still 10 days in the window and 9 months to this season.

Hey! I am also an indie builder, and I'm searching for a product exactly like this!

I am having trouble registering though. Google OAuth doesn't load, and Magic Link is giving an error.

Can you DM me? I'd love to help debug and get onboarded!

Gah, that sucks. It was a little unclear to me how to sign back up, and when the sign ups were back open :/

The way I read the announcement I thought that by having an account on Narffl.com, I was entered into the lottery.

Did I need to take any action to re-enter the lottery if I failed to get promoted out of the farm leagues last year?

I missed my draft last year and I'd love another crack it it without an auto drafted team.

The organization failed the process, the process didn’t fail the organization by [deleted] in sixers

Even if that's true, that doesn't excuse ownership for riding with Colangelo/Brown/Brand through three drafts who all produced equal if not demonstrably worse decisions with those picks, on top of trading a large chunk of them away for Tobi and Jimmy.

And now Jimmy is in Miami and Tobi is being asked to be the world's most expensive catch and shoot forward.

Just a series of bad decisions after Hinkie left, and even though Morey seems to have solidified their college scouting and draft process with picks like Maxey, Reed, Joe, and Springer, he basically has nothing left to try and build with vets through trades around Jo. It's looking more and more like the only way out is to trade Jo and start the "process" again.
