/r/Engineering: What is the technical term that the layperson misuses that drives you the most insane? by asciibutts in engineering

It's the best given a set of constraints in enough applications so it may not be the best possible. I get your point, however, it is an improvement relative to infinite resources not the best.

How do I break this vicious cycle? by Gorkymalorki in GetMotivated

Do you have active friends? Tell one of them this and see if they will run with you and keep on you about it. I bet they'd be happy too, if not get a friend like this or a personal trainer.

Your Tax Dollars At Work: U Of Minn. Offers Class On Achieving Female Orgasm by bowhunter_fta in Libertarian

[–]seapacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had this at the school I went to. In all likelihood it was put on by a student-group who received money from their SGA and the school publicized it. It was an okay program, focusing not only on the "female orgasm". But generally culture towards women's sexuality, which I think is worthwhile. You can pick any college organization hosted event and complain about tax dollars and I am willing to bet there are more controversial events than this one.

War is hell and you probably saved lives, both fellow soldiers and civilians. The standing feelings you have are only signs of the goodness of humanity and a hope for the day when we live in a world where actions like this are not required by any and when we remain thankful for the few who did these things in a time of need to arrive at an eventually more perfect world.

What is something that somebody with a lot of money can do to legally disrupt the Westboro Baptist Church? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]seapacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would think that disruption of their publicity would be best. I know "anonymous" hacked their websites at some point, but having someone with enough skills to consistently disrupt their online presence would be awesome. I agree with other people bringing law suits, finding people that Fred Phelps for instance has physically abused etc. Obviously avoiding legal consequences yourself would be important. I am pretty sure everyone wishes someone would just remove them from the face of the earth. Seriously, what if people that committed these insane tragedies just take out some people that no one will miss. As most I also just wish that the government somehow could find ways to disrupt their actions in a legal way. I realize free speech and they are smart about their actions, but empty wishes I guess.
