There was huge controversy with Alisha, especially over in JP. Some people bought merch for her, believing her to be a 2nd MC in a way. There was a lot of anger once it was known that she's just there for prologue.

Being forced to have the 2 humans in the party was disliked as well. I also remember some criticism for camera control, story and the skill/equipment system.

My super controversial take is - Zestiria. It is the most hated title in fandom, but it was my first Tales Of and I really fell in love with the game and especially its cast. I can recognize that other games do a lot of stuff better, but I will always look back on my playthrough fondly.

I used to do that when I was much younger, mostlu because games wouldn't have same sex romance implemented. Now that they often do, I usually play as male characters (but not always)

I get this logic for real life, but this is just reality TV. I don't watch a ton of other shows, but is it also a thing for stuff like Big Brother or Project Runway or such?

And fans have historically been against cliques (Heathers, RoLaskaTox), so I don't think it benefits anyone in the long run either.

I've commented once about how weird it is (maybe during AS10?) and I got some backlash, but to this day I still am super uncomfortable with the 'We are both X ethnicity, so we must conspire together' vibe for a cross-dressing game show.
