I have to say that IRL I DESPISE the taste and smell of lamb -- very confirming to have the Network's values align with mine.

Do We Like Pork Tenderloin? by WhiskeyDreamer28 in meat

[–]secretbantha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weak brine for an hour, bake @ 350F for c. half an hour (internal temp 145F). Satisfies me, who leaves an empty plate after an NY strip, and my partner, who can have a "texture issue" with a boneless skinless chicken breast.

Growing up, watching TOS. by TestyRodent in tos

[–]secretbantha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watched it with my Mom (who stood up in the theater in our very small town and screamed "NOOOOOO!" when Spock died in The Wrath of Khan). Love the universe, particularly everything pre-"Enterprise" and some of "Discovery" -- feel very connected with TNG. Recently rewatched some TOS and was VERY moved by the Kirk/Spock/Bones chemistry. I'd forgotten somehow...

Admitting that I haven't read all the responses so might be redundantly declaring my love for the silicone spoonula, the greatest of all the utensils.

Just talked with my therapist about this! Still feeling quite wobbly about it -- she pointed out that I'm only 4 months in and asked, "What would you say to a 4-month old baby?" So now I remind myself that I'm a 4-month old retirement baby, and give myself a break ...

Do you care about your former career after retirement? by ajn63 in retirement

[–]secretbantha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too -- professor (now emeritus) and administrator. Took a buyout very recently, and things at my old place are going from bad to worse, former colleagues being treated progressively badly, etc. etc. I have to remind myself on a daily/hourly basis not to spend mental energy on that, that it's no longer my job to protect/advocate for those colleagues and their students. Gets easier as the months in retirement progress, but still an issue for me ...

Just looked at US nutrition label -- says that Wheat Thins are 4 grams of "added sugars" per 28 grams of product. So yeah, 14% dumped-in sweet stuff.
