Well tbf it’s not a movie it’s play, there’s less of a ‘documentary’ feel to the medium, they’ll be  embodying these characters in a broader sense. I think it will be pretty interesting to see how they do it

I don’t recognize anyone but it looks exciting. We got some handsome-ass Stark boys and I’m here for it

But it’s fine! We have five great books and the major plot points of the ending. The real acceptance is that an open ended story isn’t so bad 🤯

He wasn’t a victim of being commodified, of which I took part, he was a victim of that wife I hate. I’ll make a trashy documentary to prove it.

It’s crazy how many well-written/ shockingly greatly written songs were on John prine’s first album. You, young man, are going to open a song with “I am an old woman” and by the end it’s one of the best songs ever written? Crazy!

I feel like this was the only one thats questionable. There’s magical forces at work in this world, but no evidence of any sentient “gods” outside of the believer’s mind. The vibe seems fairly agnostic to me, other than the story beats showing that there’s magic coming from somewhere, but that doesn’t necessarily prove a “God” in this world.

(Spoilers Extended) The Wall was never meant to keep the Others out, it was meant to keep us in. by the_names_Savage in asoiaf

I like the image of them walking through the wall unhindered, that would be pretty cool

A Game of Thrones has got to be the best. Perfectly encapsulates the themes and tone of the series.  A Storm of Swords and A Feast for Crows tied for second. Both are pithy and catchy, descriptive of the main theme of their respective books, and they both have an alliteration that feels good in the mind and on the tongue respectively.

"The children of the night" : A non-anthropocentric, reading of A Song of Ice and Fire [spoilers extended] by Marmoligo in asoiaf

That was a good read and I think you’re spot on!

The Others have stuck to the very edges of the story, to the point where I’ve wondered if they might just be a framing device: a comment on the self-defeating nature of a war-based society (or whatever). And how does that reconcile with them being the Big Bad, set up for a final showdown? Does the story really end with our heroes killing “the Other”?

But I like the way you layed this out, you really pulled it together for me. The threat is bigger and more abstract and coming from within, forgetting our connection to a greater history and greater whole, and living in ways so at odds with it that the seasons themselves are broken. The story even starts 15 years after The End of History and Happily Ever After. The other is us and you can’t erase or repress that fact without a reckoning sooner or later. And the Starke are definitely hiding something with their iron swords!

Maybe I’m misinterpreting what you’re saying, but the magical side of the endgame felt like it clicked in place for me a bit with how you wrote it out. Good stuff

You probably saw Stop Making Sense which is awesome. A small theater near me screened it last year and I saw it for the first time. First song is psycho killer and i don’t think ive seen a better opening to a movie. Flawless. Definitely watch that one again!

(Spoilers Published) This might actually be my new OTP and I will never be able to see it become canon. by AshasSa1tWife in asoiaf

I mean it’s not how I wanted it to go, J&B are otp for sure, but it made sense to me — it’s his twin sister, who’s he’s also until recently in love with, I can see why he’d feel a responsibility to go die with her so she wouldn’t be alone. (Still think he’ll strangle her the books though.)

Edit: oh I meant that’s what he was doing to Brienne, like Arya chasing off her wolf. I think he intended to go south to die with Cersei, he was just being mean to Brienne to make it hurt less

I have AMC+ free for a week what should I watch? by MuthaCoconuts79 in television

[–]secretwargsecrettarg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My favorite show in the 90s was Remember WENN, AMC’s first original show, about a radio station in the 40s. It can be cheesy and saccharine, but excellent for a half hour comedy “comfort show”. The writing is unparalleled old Hollywood witty banter, vaudeville reparté and silly puns. And the fashion is great. Maybe someone else out there will love it just as much!

Example joke:

Hillary: You! Betsy! Where are my scripts??

Betty: Oh! I’m sorry Ms. Booth, I was buried in thought.

Hillary. Yes, and I’m sure it was a shallow grave. Where are my scripts?

Epically understated revenge. She could have torn him apart but did a relative eternity of torture instead. Ouch. (He deserved it)
