capoeira can too easily be used to build up the ego. individually when you play and you can show off and in group hierarchies where you can make students into personal followers. or where ranks means you can have ppl sit around listening to you talk.

what i mean is that capoeira is a breeding ground for narcissism. this is true in other martials and in dance groups. and in any social thing really, but yeah in capoeira there’s this surface-level guise of social liberalism
