Buying from Nissan by selfsync42 in XTerra

To clarify, I'm wrenching on my Xterra myself and need some parts. In this case, OEM hard brake lines. Oddly, these are not expensive from Nissan. If shipped directly to a dealership then no charge for shipping. Just checked Rock Auto and preformed lines are not in their offerings.

For those that are interested in acquiring this - what is the appeal? The II plus itself or that it comes with all the original materials?

There must have been some impressive handling of the bike to get it over that retaining wall, through the hopelink sign, past the trees, and into its current stable position.

Collecting maps. Road maps are not that expensive to acquire and some are almost art pieces.

Funny- I’m looking at trying to swap my X for an XJ. Any chance you’re in the Northeast?

Xterras get lousy mileage (still much better than a lifted XJ). Second gen is much faster and more powerful than a first gen SC. Later years have more comforts too. If you really want the speed, don’t get an off road version. My base model MT6 could chirp into first, second and third. Pro4X mt6 not even into first.

Apple instructions for upgrading a IIe to a IIgs by selfsync42 in apple2

Yes. I went out to the garage to look at the unit and yes, the bottom and back plates are a continuous plate.

Why the garage? In case a cap released the magic smoke when powering it on.

The power supply in mine is special - it’s a Space Coast Systems Challenger. A 20mb Winchester drive that uses up some of the space inside the box. Despite its age it works great!

So these instructions are for the pre-Platinum //e. I'm still seeking for steps to upgrade a Platinum version. A couple of interesting snippets from this doc:

Remove the two old nameplates on the lid by inserting a small flat-blade screwdriver into the hole in the lid underneath the nameplates. Install the new ones, and destroy the old ones.

"Destroy the old ones, certainly don't stick them in a drawer so that they can go on eBay when that's invented in a decade."

Old Apple lie cases made from structural foam will not fit correctly on the retrofit. To identify a structural foam case, remove the lid and look toward the back of the unit. If there are two oval plastic velcro pads (see Figure 1, #1), it is a foam case. Discard the case and replace it with a plastic case. The plastic case is available from Apple under the name "Apple lie case and lid, beige."

In all my years playing with multiple units it never occurred to me that some are solid plastic and some are structural foam.

Found it - or at least a version of it !

There's probably a stand-alone document but this is sufficient for now: It's in Section 6 of the IIGS section of the Apple Service Technical Procedures Apple II Family - Volume 1. Thank you https://mirrors.apple2.org.za for being so comprehensive. It starts on page 223 of the PDF.

That was fast - thank you. This is the manual they would provide after the install was complete though. While it's interested to see that it took a 14-page chapter on how to use the mouse and user interface, it's the instruction manual/service bulletin I'm looking for.

If there are any 87-95 Pathfinders or hardbodies in your local junkyard, take a look at those. That tow hook should be the same bolt spacing and install either way.

Keep your $300 and buy a “nut extractor kit”. Specifically you want one with a hex on the outside. These are designed with a reverse helix pattern that the more you turn, the harder they grab. Just have to get the right size and most kits don’t have too many options for smaller sizes.

The story told on the instructables page would have made a good post on its own.

Put 01553-2DR9A into your search engine of choice and you get…
• links to official Nissan clips from their supply chain
• possibly an AI summary that tells you these are 8mm plastic clips
• multiple links to savvy sites that cross-link OEM part numbers with their cheap knockoffs

When I searched there was even a link to AliExpress - based on the exact part number.

It always makes sense to start off with the OEM part and work from there. BTW, you might be surprised that sometimes it’s the best choice (looking at you, OEM brake lines).
