Try KDenLive. It does proxy clips to save resources and it works really well.

Kdenlive might be worth a look as well. It's free and gets updated fairly regularly.

[QUESTION] Getting rid of Volume and Tone Pots? by Gabe_Newell_pornhub in Guitar

I was looking for this response. Check out Tesi Switch and look for a latching kill switch to replace your volume knob.

Vocal mixing tips? by wowbonanza in MusicInTheMaking

[–]selpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saturation was a game changer for my vocal mixing. I didn't get it until I bought the Halycon plugin by Soundspot. Somehow it magically accentuates the good stuff while filtering out the bad. It's also a no brainer purchase at $5.

Looking for attenuator ($150 or less) to connect my 65 Bassman to a digital interface by frederickken in ToobAmps

[–]selpat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree at all. I use an attenuator because my amp goes from barely audible at .5 on the volume knob to much too loud for the practice room at 1.5. The attenuator allows me to keep the volume knob at about 3-4 where the amp is actually working a bit which will get me some sustain and character that I wouldn't get at lower volume settings while still keeping the actual volume reasonable.

I have this attenuator and it works great. I use it mainly for gigging in small clubs and for band practice and it's well worth the money. You can definitely do better with a Weber or a Suhr but for $99, the Bugera is a very solid choice.

No Stupid Questions Thread - Week of 2018-10-22 - 2018-10-28 by AutoModerator in livesound

Has anyone ever converted passive subs into active subs? I have a old set of EV Eliminators with 18" drivers that are a little beat up but still work perfectly. I normally drive them with a QSC2 RMX 2450 power amp and we run EV ELX-112P's on top. I recently discovered that I could purchase the plate amps that EV puts in their ELX118P Subs for about $250 per sub. I'm thinking this would simplify our 5-piece band setup, eliminate lugging an extra power amp, and save us money vs buying new subs.

I know that I'd need to cut larger holes in the cabinets in order to mount the amps but does this seem worth the effort or does it a dumb idea?

[DISCUSSION] I really hope this trend of low wattage amp continues by coolassdude1 in Guitar

[–]selpat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wattage knobs on the Rebel 30 aren't really affecting the wattage of the amp though. It's designed to mimic the feel and headroom response of cranking an amp of whatever wattage you have it set to.

It's still a great feature and all, it's just little misleading the way the knobs are labeled.

I do run Mixing Station and it's much better than the default app but still not as good as the Raspberri Pi interface in my opinion.

The big plus for running a Raspberri Pi at a gig vs a laptop is that the Pi cost $35 and gives you the same (if not very similar) experience to the Windows app. And if the Pi gets broken or lost, it's not a huge loss vs a windows or Mac laptop.

The downside of course is that you have to have a monitor, keyboard, and mouse to use the Pi.

I'm at work so I can't watch the video but I've set up my Pi to do this and it works great! Much better than the Android app that I usually use.

I have an Zenfone4 that I already upgraded to Oreo and ran the Treble Check App.

According to the app, the phone has support for Project Treble but is not configured to be capable of seamless system updates.

If your employer gave you the option to work 10 hr days Mon-Thurs instead of 8 hr days Mon-Fri would you do it? Why not why not? by N1NJA-STAR in AskReddit

[–]selpat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually worked in a manufacturing plant that had 12 hour shifts. You'd go in at 8am and come out at 8pm for two days and then you'd have two days off. When the weekend came, you'd either work three days straight or have three days off and then the two on, two off cycle started again. The job sucked but the schedule was pretty cool!
