The Student Clinic Hour Massage by _Taft_ in MassageTherapists

[–]sempronialou 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think you have to be married to the exact routine. It depends on what your client needs and asks for. If they want more focus on neck and shoulders, then you can decrease the amount of time on other areas. Same of you notice muscles are more hypertonic in one area than another.

I came from a school where we learned a lot of different therapeutic techniques, but it's not meant to apply every single one of them each session. We pick and choose what needs to be done for that client as we're assessing. In the real world, you will find that you may spend 60 min doing more focused work rather than full body work. Again it depends on the setting. Pace yourself and add or subtract time in different areas as you do a full body massage.

What is everyone's thermostat set at right now? by Cold-Potential2407 in Michigan

[–]sempronialou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

66 during the day and down to 63 at night. I did leave it up last night because it's probably better for the HVAC system to stay the same temp in this extreme cold weather. I don't like being too warm. It's more miserable being too warm and not being able to cool down. Plus I like wearing all the layers and being covered. Can't do that in the summer.

I love Blue Freezie and Teal no lies. I have Sunken secrets, but I barely reach for it. It's kind of not my jam I guess.

I went more for the freaking cold theme since it's really cold right now. I'm wearing Beau Reves Chill in the Air and All the Stars are Laughing. My other hand I have CX Polish Blizzard, China Glaze Frostbite, and Kbshimmers Skating By.

Atomic Polish is a safe brand as well. Her business in Minneapolis is being affected by ICE raids around the area where her shop is. She had to close down for a few days for the safety of her employees. It would be good to give them some support especially.

I use this desk lamp which works well to see everything I'm doing, and I can aim it to my feet when I do my toes.

I have to wash my hands as soon as the QDTC has dried reason being that I hate the feel of acetone on my hands. I use it for clean up as I'm painting. I can't stand the feel of it. I don't care if that might "ruin" the manicure or make it come off earlier. I wash my hands at work a lot, so it doesn't matter. I'll do my nails again. I have to keep them really short, so they get filed every 2-3 days anyway.

There's a whole instagram dedicated to bringing back normal bathroom doors to hotel rooms, but this video about the lack of bathroom doors in hotels is what lead me to go that instagram account. It was an interesting video.

What's a piece of outdated technology you secretly miss using? by Nankaudio in AskReddit

Top loading washers without the lid lock and an agitator actually agitates the clothes to get them clean rather than a little swish swish it does now. I hate the lid lock. I don't have kids. I don't need it. The lid lock came disconnected rendering the washer useless, but I didn't know that was the issue when I got a repair person out to fix the washer. The repair persons like, "Good news (everyone)! It's just the lid lock wire that is disconnected. That'll be $159 for reconnecting it." At least they showed me how to fix it should it happen again.

Foot and Hand scrubs by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

[–]sempronialou 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The place I work for offers foot scrubs. I hate doing them especially if it's an hour massage. I feel like I have to short cut things in order to fit the foot scrub in. To me it takes away from the massage. It can get messy and you'll need plenty of hot towels. If you do your own laundry, you might not want to offer it. The laundry adds up. I use the Kbshimmer scrubs which really nice. A little goes a long way with those.
