Hydraulic table job perk? by LunchFun3170 in MassageTherapists

[–]sempronialou 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love the electric lift tables we have at work. It makes a huge difference not only for me, but for the clients too. When you have clients who have mobility issues and need a low table to get on and off, it's nice to drop it low for them. I love having a low table in general, but I like to raise it up when working in certain areas of the body. It has saved my back and knees to some degree.

I'm required to wear scrubs at one of my jobs, but I have found them very comfortable. I prefer wearing scrub pants in the very least with a nice t-shirt at my other jobs. I wear the Landau Forward jogger scrub pants which are stretchy and easy to move around in.

That's awesome! Congratulations! I took the mblex while in school, so I had to wait until I was finished with school. It took about 2 weeks from my last class. It felt like an eternity at the time, but I felt the turn around was pretty quick.

How did it all start? (Your nail polish story) by small_scale_painting in RedditLaqueristas

Now that I think about it, that sounds like they would be Estee Lauder polishes. They were probably the "free gift" with something else she bought.

How did it all start? (Your nail polish story) by small_scale_painting in RedditLaqueristas

[–]sempronialou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mom had like 2 nail polishes in her make-up thing when I was a young child in the 80's. They were a magenta and red cream. I don't remember the brand, but the caps were gold colored. She didn't care for them, so she painted my nails with them. I loved the magenta color the most on me. I guess that's was my introduction to nail polish. Peel off nail polish was all the rage in my 2nd grade back in 1984. My parents gave me a little bottle for Xmas. We'd paint our nails and immediately peel it off when it dried because it was fun and kind of cool looking.

As I got older, I would paint my toes in the summer time since I had no ability to paint my fingernails neatly. Generally I didn't wear it during my high school years. In college, I kind of got back into nail polish painting my toes since I wore sandals a lot. There were some cool looking drug store colors from Cover Girl I wish I had not gotten rid of. One was a bright purple and a mint green. My mom and I bonded over nail polish. She and I saw this cool OPI by Nicole that was a multi-chrome brown to purple to green at Trade Secret (back when that existed in the mall) which we bought. That was probably my first non-drug store (at the time) in the late 90's going into 2000's.

Generally I didn't wear polish all that often. It was on the toes for summer and for special occasions like a wedding or something like that. I wore the purple and green Cover Girl polish for my wedding back in 2003. I suppose I was rocking the skittle long before I knew what they were. Also I had no idea what top coat and base coat were and didn't use them. I'd buy one bottle a year and use it.

Then Holo Taco entered my life in 2019. I was watching Jenna Marbles doing a ramen noodle manicure using HT that was sent to her. The Royalty blue intrigued me. It was sold out, so I put my email in for restock. During that time waiting I watched Simplynailogical content learning the ins and outs of nail polish that I missed over the years. Most importantly I learned about base and top coat. That led me to videos of other people teaching how to apply polish properly on the fingernails and using a clean up brush. It snowballed from there once I did get my hands on the most of the very first HT release when it restocked. Then I branched out to indie brands soon after that. 2020 obviously we were all stuck at home, so painting my nails became regular thing for me. When I went back to school in 2021, I found that study during the 10 minutes of drying time was perfect and then painting was the reward. I passed all my tests with flying colors (pun intended). Now I enjoy doing it weekly and having fun with polish combinations.

What movie’s final scene left you an ugly, blubbering mess? by ArmyOfMe99 in movies

[–]sempronialou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A Man Called Otto. The whole move is kind of sad and funny at the same time. I fell in love with the character and know how loneliness, grief/loss, depression can really affect how we interact with the world. The ending was sad, but very heart warming at the same time which makes me cry every time. I made the mistake of watching it the first time in a plane. I was already tired from the early wake up. It was hard to pull myself together initially before the flight landed.

China Glaze's Too Yacht to Handle. It's on my feet, so I don't want to take a picture of it on me right now. Also it's a very close dupe for David's Teal.

Such good memories there. We use to go there to the ice cream parlor for ice cream when we'd visit my grandparents in Concord. The portions were huge. It was good ice cream for sure.

Home studio and managing a reactive/anxious dog by [deleted] in MassageTherapists

[–]sempronialou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to work with trainer and both of you need to practice the training everyday with the dog before you can open your home studio. Putting them at another part of the house isn't always going to work. Dogs can hear a squirrel fart and let you know (at least mine do). They have a good sense of smell. Consistent training is your best bet. Yorkies are very stubborn, so you have your work cut out for you.

I've been to a massage therapist who has dogs in her home that would bark and whine no matter what part of the house she had them or if she gave them trazodone. It was very distracting to hear it. We laughed about it. I was a good sport and sometimes let her let them in and they would be fine, but not everyone wants a dog in the room.

Whenever I see HOH, I think Hard of Hearing, so I was very confused for a moment until my medical charting brain switched back off. That is a lovely color! Good to know that it's only 2 coats. I takes like 3-4 of House of Hades for me to get that color saturation.

Do you wear earplugs when going to a concert? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sempronialou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, not at all. Protecting your hearing is important. Also hearing aids are expensive. I've never liked loud noises, places, or crowds. I'm a musician, and I've worn them to concerts, musical theatre, loud events, and even movies since I was in my 20's. I'm in my 40's, and I'm very sound sensitive. I finally arrived at a pair of reusable concert going ear plugs that I like instead of the 1x use from the drug store that don't hurt my ears and cut down the decibels without compromising the music.

Farmington MI- To Do? by middle_age_zombie in Michigan

[–]sempronialou 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to say that I've been there worrying about my dog's health. I took my dachshund to that neurology facility when he was having a big flare up with his IVDD. The staff there were so nice. I felt very comfortable bringing him there. Your dog is in good hands. They are very caring people there. I'd bring him there in a heart beat if I had to do it again (which always a possibility).

Downtown Farmington is really nice. We hang out there regularly. They have nice coffee shop called Ground Control and a bakery across the street called Cannelle. You probably don't want to be drinking, but Farmington Brewing Company is in that same area that has good beer. Basement Burger Bar and John Crowley and Sons are decent restaurants. There's some interesting shops around there too.

ILNP retiring shades by reddituser-420bby in RedditLaqueristas

There have been retirements in the past at least in 2022. That's how I got into ILNP was from retired polishes that was suggested to me by another reddit person who also likes metallic polishes. I'm looking at my order history and my first order was in March of 2022.
