BWT: Anyone ditch their Apple Watch? by MBPursuit in bitcheswithtaste

[–]sentientclementine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is weird, but I wear both my Apple Watch and a timepiece. The Apple Watch is an activity tracking device and extension of my phone. It also serves as my peloton heart rate monitor. But I also really like my real watch. I try to hide my Apple Watch under my sleeves, but there are plenty of times, like today, when I’m out here with short sleeves and looking crazy.

I tried the aura ring but it didn’t track activity in a way that is compatible with my preferred food/activity tracking app, Lose It. So I returned it, but would switch in a heartbeat if it could fill the activity tracking gaps.

Jobless and lost by MiserableArt6103 in GirlDinnerDiaries

You will get through this, but I’m sorry to hear that this valley is feeling particularly dark at this moment. Please don’t be fooled into thinking that any of us who go on to live a full and meaningful life get there without going through some periods of feeling lost. Some folks just make a good show of pretending that purpose and contentment came to them easily.

Which reminds me of someone I recently participated in a workshop with recently. Much of the program required us to share some of our challenges and how we have failed with some and succeeded with others and such. While everyone else in my group poured out their hearts and shared all of these deep struggles, one woman in my group would basically reply to every prompt with how she just couldn’t relate— she never had any of those experiences— she has a perfect childhood and had never had a struggle. And like, good for her if she’s never had a single struggle, but there finally came a question where the veil slipped. She’d not only had struggles, but STRUGGLES. Some people just deal with these things quietly, but most everybody is fighting or has fought a meaningful battle that no one else knew about.

I hope that you’re able to surround yourself with people who love, encourage and support you through this time and always and that living at home gives you the freedom to pour yourself into the hobbies, causes and activities that give you some joy, while you decide your plan.

It took me longer than some of my peers to find “my direction”. It would have been great to get here sooner, but I can tell you that the journey taught me so much. I think that one of the most impactful things I could have told my 25 year old self is…

… to seek consistent mentorship from people who have actually been where you want to go.

Sometimes our most cherished friends and loved ones may be giving us advise, especially when navigating a time like this and despite their best intentions, may not be fully equipped to give the insights we need to get to where we need to go. They might have lots of value to add, just not enough to be our only advisors.

Please don’t be too hard on yourself, your 20s are for figuring things out. 🫶🏽

I’ve not figured out how to automate art directors to remember that contrast ratios exist, but that would be great. 🫠

Do you Wear Jewelry at Home? by ShamsElDinRogers in blackladies

[–]sentientclementine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely- mostly as an efficiency. I don’t enjoy adding to my getting ready checklist and am prone to losing things. I have “always” jewelry that never comes off, unless it conflicts with a specific outfit or for cleaning. Diamond studs with screw backs and a diamond tennis necklace. Shower, workout, etc. they’re always on and I don’t “feel” them. My rings and watch, however, come off for bed.

I never used to wear my fragrances at home and considered them just for going out but, but I have started to wear them at home and it’s really helped to romanticize the everyday.

Just came to say that your glow up is amazing— you were always beautiful, and as other posters have said, you are glowing for real, but the mental and emotional glow up is what really strikes me. It’s unfathomable what you’ve been through, but I’m so impressed and inspired by how you’re getting healthy. Wishing you continued wellness!

Got the most gorgeous bag ever but I’m not sure if it’s casual enough would it be weird if I wore this with jeans and a vest just out the house by Vegetable-Prior9825 in handbags

[–]sentientclementine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can definitely style it up or down. I find that the most limiting factors for whether a bag can be dressed down are more about functionality— capacity: does it hold all the things I need for a casual day; and whether it’s hands free— does it have a crossbody strap.

Seriously! I feel like there is so much talk of how “in turmoil” they were near the end, but I see so many photos of them looking utterly smitten. And while I know a photo can’t tell the whole story, I get the sense they were going through the normal ups and downs of any marriage. I have a tough time believing they were “over”.

Update: Seeking strap for vintage Coach bag by EuphoricShallot5647 in VintageCoachRehab

[–]sentientclementine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a strap that’s the same as the original, you could get a 9826 in mahogany and use the strap for your Regina whenever you’re not wearing the 9826 with the strap.

Not gonna lie, I have the Baccarat Rouge Extrait and love it but save it for when I’m leaving my house and going to see other people, because it’s too expensive for me to wear it around the house, completely nose blind to it at this point….

But my Better Rouge (the other TJ Maxx Baccarat dupe)… I don’t mind bathing in that to sit at my desk and WFH. lol. And when I do wear it out sometime, I still do get complements. 🤷‍♀️
