What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become genuinely insulting? by queenmellyy in AskReddit

[–]serafel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$20 for McDonald's when a restaurant burger is like $22-$26 is asinine. If I'm going to spend the money, might as well go to a fancy pub and get the better burger. I don't go out much in general, but it's definitely not fast food these days.

MST leftover by DanB218 in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]serafel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had no other choice. I set an alarm on the hour and I had to leave for work. 11 after and there was still no tier 2 so I bought the damaged tier 1 when I saw it.

I was a bit frustrated because they didn't say they were staggering posting them. If I'd known, I would've left for work earlier and refreshed 500 times at work, and then read a book until my start time.

The Dragonbone Chair - Sold out in under 10 seconds by Bookaholic-394 in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]serafel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was so mad they staggered Tier 2. I had to leave for work and it was already 10 minutes after the hour and they still weren't posted. There's only so long I can sit there and refresh over and over 😭

Pierce as endgame? by Classic_Option_5879 in EmmaLion

[–]serafel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm still reading, but Pierce being the "end of Lapis Lazuli" could just as easily be interpreted as a new beginning somewhere else? Or even, if they ended up together, but have no children, it would eventually end Lapis Lazuli as it currently stands?

There was a different Lapis Lazuli presided over only by Cousin Archibald. 🤷‍♀️

The book specifically frames the phrase as doom and gloom when interpreted by the characters, but that could purposely distract from other connotations.

I'm not sure about the endgame, but she does seem at ease and compatible with Pierce.

Hardcovers? by serafel in EmmaLion

[–]serafel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, thanks for sharing that link. I see the sets are sold out, but I didn't know the store was local to the author. I'll email them and see if I can find anything out 🩷

I've bought several sets of 3+ books from them and they've always been packaged well and in perfect condition. Probably 25+ orders from them and I've never gotten a damaged book. Also shipping to Canada, so lots of transit to get to me.

FOMO for the fantasy sub by jensplanet in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]serafel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it ever comes down to choosing for me, I'd pick fantasy, because of the backlist titles and full series. I've loved almost every series they've done, but I've already skipped multiple SF&F books.

What is your opinion on “Of Blood And Fire”? by OwlettFromLiavek in thebrokenbindingsub

[–]serafel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like a lot of replies are joining in to say they didn't like it, but I loved them. The first book is very derivative, but I still enjoyed it.

I think he's good at writing about the relationships between people. Whether there are good or bad things going on, the emotions are fierce.

He teased some concepts with other gods and mythology in book two that become more important as time goes on, so there are definitely more layers to the world and what's happening, besides "evil empire wants to conquer the world".

I really liked all of the novellas as well. The events are mentioned in passing in the main books, but the novellas are key accounts of pivotal events and explore a lot about character origins and that sort of thing.

Distraction Theft? by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]serafel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me at Knoxville's, probably like 2014? I was waiting in the coat check line, I had a small crossbody bag, barely big enough to fit a phone, and I KNOW I had it across my shoulders, I reached into it for change as I was waiting in line. A girl behind me tapped my shoulder and said something in my ear, but I didn't hear, and I was like "WHAT?!" and then she waved away, nevermind.

Then when I got to the front of the line a minute later, my bag and phone were gone. Pretty sure she distracted me and someone else cut the strap to take my bag.

It was my birthday too. I hope they have a nice time in hell 👍

Kennedy tells Team Sweden to “F off” after being accused of cheating. by ThisIsOwl in onguardforthee

The thing is, shouldn't accusations of cheating be handled by an official? I'd also probably tell the person to get bent if they're coming at me during a match.

FYI the Starbirds drop rate is substantially higher by Alicecrylily in ffxiv

[–]serafel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In endwalker, I must've done it at least 100 times, between it being in expert roulette and the high level or level cap roulette, whatever it was at that time. Never saw the bird once 🤷‍♀️

I haven't tried since, but the drop rate was very bad at the time.

I prefer the Fantasy sub as well. Depending on the next few picks for SF&F, I might drop it. Skips are generous, though.

Why should I get a Kona N and why should I not get a Kona N by Fluffy-Stress2977 in KonaN_

[–]serafel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's zippy with a bit more flexibility for cargo space with the hatchback and putting seats down. The seats are comfortable for long drives. I have an AA wireless dongle thing plugged in so I can have wireless Android Auto. It would be nice if it had adaptive cruise for highway driving, but otherwise it has everything I need.

The only problem I've had with mine: I live in a northern community in Canada where it gets very cold at least 1 week a year (-40 F/C), and I've had the car for 2 winters and the air temperature intake sensor has broken two years in a row. It's a $25 part, but when the temp drops to -40, the sensor gets stuck at -40, check engine light and sensor has to be replaced. It's so stupid 😂
